Alright, I hooked up the next computer, a Compaq, and turned it on. It just sits at the Microsoft Windows 98 screen. Any ideas on the first action I should take with this comp?
When the win98 splash screen comes up, hit esc right away. That splash screen just hides what's happening in the background anyway. You'll be able to see where the boot process stops and we can go further from that information there.
This is what it says... The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\Windows\System\cpqidecd.sys There is an error in your config.sys file on line 4 C:\set classpath=c:\program files\photodelux 2.0\AbdobeConnectables c:\>c:\progra~1\networ~1\scan.exe c:\ bad command or file name MODE prepare code page function completed. Mode select code page funection complete.
..... I thought of that...... then I was like... "How the fuck do I run it in safe mode"... And to think, I'm going into computer science
I'm attempting to learn stuff aboot computers here, it's not like I need to fix these computers.. theyre old and junky anyways.. I just kind of enjoy this stuff. So be nice to Thunder
Don't worry Sarah, at MRC if the computer you are using fucks up, you don't have to fix it. I do. On boot, after the memory check and the hard drive detection and all that, press and hold F8. That will bring up a menu with one of the options being safe mode.

R-C is my google when it comes to computer stuff. Why bother sorting through pages of junk, when I can have my questions answered quickly by people who get paid to know this shit? But I guess, being partially retarded, that's a tad too hard for you to understand.
