Alright, I hooked up my old computer, started it up, and I get this error.. Sooooo... what exacty should I do?
well...my professional computer advice=re-install a copy of that file dont ask...im realllllly over tired!!
Serious advice only, please. I'm fairly certian this computer has a virus or something, I dont know even how to install the said file.
basically you have to put the windows 98 cd in the cd-rom and turn the computer on..either reinstall all of windows or go into dos and reinstall said file.
I say just do a quick reinstall of windows. There may be other files that are missing or corrupted that you may come accross later, better to just have a fresh install to work with.....save yourself some time.
That sucks. It's unlikely I'll find a windows 98 cd around. How about winME? And yeah, on both computers, is it unlikely I'll be able to save any data on the HD?
You can't mix them. That's why one is called win 98 and the other is called win me, too show stupid people that they are different.
Be nice. It's not that silly to assume maybe I could uninstall all of win 98 and reinstall winME, since I dont have win 98. Where does one find win 98? Do they even still make it? Can I download it?
If you have an ME disk, in dos you can nuke the program files and windows folders, then install ME from scratch... that way you won't be killing all the data, just the programs installed and the OS. Hopefully you don't have any data saved in those folders....
if you wanna be super 1337, take the hard drive right out, and plug it into your working computer as a slave. then you can easily browse all the files.
