Your boss leaves their computer screen on and it's showing their inbox.

An email with the subject line "your name" is in there. What do you do?

Do you click on it? Do you ask them about it? Do you let it go? Do you start worrying?

If you ask them about it, they'll know you were looking at their email inbox.

This hasn't happened to me, I'm just bored and wanted a new topic to talk on.

I'm not quite sure what I would do. Part of me would want to open it, but I'd know better not to. Knowing the relationship I have with my Manager I think I would most likely casually bring it up or just drop it completely.

No. I log into the administration portion of our email domain from my own computer and read what it's about with 0% risk factor of being caught. Being able to read anyone's email in the entire company FTW!!

I'd leave it. If it's something I need to know about, I'm sure he'll tell me eventually.

I voted that I'd read it and then mark it back as unread. I have access to my bosses inbox on my computer, so it would be easy for me to do. Or I'd just wait for him to read it himself (just in case the sender put a read receipt on it), and then go look at it.

I would most definitly read it and then mark it as unread.
I wouldn't be able to see it there and then wonder what it was about. I would have to read it lol

I'd leave it. If it's that important they'll speak to me about it, I have a great relationship with my boss though

We had this conversation a few weeks ago at work amongst the partners and managers. We use email all the time to discuss staff performance and what not. We made it a policy that if we are sending emails concerning this then their names do not get used in the subject line, and since we all have a preview on the bottom half of the email, we leave enough space from the top before starting the email so you cannot preview it by mistake.

I would leave it, if they found out, which somehow they would because they're clever, they would chew me up one side and down the other.
