Canadians struggling to finish their income tax returns by Thursday just got a last-minute reprieve thanks to a Canada Revenue Agency blunder, CTV News has learned.
In a rare mea culpa, the CRA has admitted to sending out an incorrect notice to tax preparers across the country, indicating that this year’s income tax filing deadline is May 5, instead of April 30.
The incorrect notice was sent to accountants “due to human error,” the CRA said in a statement to CTV News Monday night.
