We're considering picking up a Xbox One. Shouldn't be surprised with Microsoft in Seattle, but all my son's friends are playing on Xbox when they play online and he's feeling left out.

Any thoughts - seem to be a fair number of configurations.

I guess I'll look to see what the S brings.

I definitely don't use mine as much as I used to now that I have a PC that's more capable of playing newer games, but like MRA said, the Xbox One S is the newest model. I don't think it's really anything groundbreaking over the original model, but if you're going to buy a new one, might as well go with the newest one.

1s has alot of features the original didnt have, like playing media from a thumbdrive etc.

I dream of a day when cross platform gaming is the norm.

Yeah, it's fucking annoying. Putting this one away for now - had a good talk with my son and he isn't even interested in playing the game his friends are playing. Still might keep my eyes out for a deal as the "next game" will come along at some point.

I'm pretty sure the original one has that now. They update the dashboard pretty much every month, adding new features. Any new features like that would go to all versions of the console.

I've been able to play media from thumb drives on my original Xbox one since the day I unboxed it?

Plug in the USB drive, go to media player, select the USB drive and voila.
