Quite awile ago, for a Subby dealer thing at AMP, it was kept very quiet, only a few knew about him being here while he was actually here. It was a closed event at the track.
He also spent quite a bit of time in/around the Sheraton where they were doing the dealer seminars. My wife ran into him in the pedways. (No, this isn't her, just a pic from AMP. )
him at the casino a few weeks ago for one of those Scooby conferences. Its amazing how true it is that 1 in every 300 people might recognize him as the WRC champion driver.
Yep, WRC is super popular everywhere but this continent, just like F1. We have small niche fan groups, but nothing in comparison to everywhere else. I got to meet Juan Pablo Montoya a bunch of times a few weeks ago, and I think coming to NA is a break for these guys, because they don't get mobbed everywhere. The avg viewership for an F1 race is close to a quarter billion people I think the Superbowl draws 50 mill or so.
