Why is it I can watch some but not others? I just tried to watch one and it told me the playlist format was not recognized?
yeah and I have WINDOWS media player, hence me being able to watch some... if you're not gonna try and help then don't reply to my post
You didnt say you had media player, hence why I thought a windows file would not be recognized on a Mac. And I will reply to whatever I want, perks of running the place, so
Maybe if you would have read the initial post you would have seen that I said I can watch some .WMV files and not others Next time you should pay attention to the thread rather than trying to make me look stupid
I need an example of one you can't play. Do you have the latest version of WM installed? Only the Mac OS X version will play a lot of the stuff you see here. Also, many WMV files on sites have an OLE interface to accessing the file. In that case you have to be using IE to see it. If you can d/l the movie instead of stream it you can try more codecs. WMV makers don't always ID the file right. Since WMV tries to take over all playing on Windows then lots of crap that should not be called wmv can still play. However, on the Mac most of the extra codecs are QuickTime plugins and you have to force it to open in QuickTime (which is easy). Go to VersionTracker to get more codecs.
damn that thing breaks a lot... buy a pc? then you won't have to take it in to get serviced every couple weeks?
