Special weather statement in effect for:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Winter weather on the way for Wednesday.
A low pressure system approaching from the southwest will cross the Maritimes Wednesday night, bringing milder temperatures, fairly strong winds, and a mixed bag of precipitation to Nova Scotia. Snow will begin ahead of this system Tuesday night in the southwest and spread northeastward through the day on Wednesday. Current forecast guidance indicates that the snow will change through ice pellets and freezing rain to rain by Wednesday afternoon, particularly for southern regions of the province. Travel may be difficult on Wednesday, and some areas may experience periods of reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow. Precipitation will diminish to scattered flurries on Wednesday night as the system moves off.
At this time, there is considerable uncertainty in the track and intensity of this system. A slight change in its track will affect the location, type, and amount of precipitation seen in the province. Meteorologists at Environment and Climate Change Canada will monitor its development and provide further information as it becomes available.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NSstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NSStorm.
I wonder if we'll ever get another snowstorm? They all just turn to rain now.
Another 3” or so last night. Side streets are sheets if ice. Main streets aren’t much better. Supposed to start snowing again later today and transition to rain, then freeze overnight. It reminds me a lot of “snow” on NS but no infrastructure to deal with it.
I’m standing at the bus stop right now. Most cars driving by don’t even have snow cleared off other than the windshield. Buses and other city trucks are all running chains.
It’s funny walking around - tons of people getting around on cross country skiis. I know people were downhill skiing in some of the hillier neighborhoods.
they are calling for 30-40 here yay
just messy enough to screw up the ice
20-40cm + 70 km/hr wind here in Freddy Beach...FML
I was supposed to go to Moncton tomorrow for meetings but my boss decided he wanted to go instead and bumped me
if i don't get a snow day tomorrow, i give up
like in life...or just at checkers?
pretty mild storm really
Work from home - I would only get a Snow Day if the power and internet went out AND the streets were impassible so I couldn't get to the local office. When the power/internet first goes out I am expected to tether the laptop to my work phone until the laptop/phone battery is dead up or I run out of data on the phone.
I tried using the excuse that I couldn't get to my office because of a 3 dog pile-up in the hallway but they didn't buy it.
Speak for yourself there...
Feels like this is happening sooner than predicted
we ended up with 30cm but it was the drifts that were crazy
14-15" and counting here. Drifts are bonkers.
Finally back to what looks like "normal" weather in Seattle. I can't wait to get up into the mountains to go skiing. The mountain pass where we normally ski is still closed - something like 5-6 feet of snow over the past few days - can't get the roads clear and mostly doing avalanche control.
we got like 4-5" of snow... I actually put my snow blower on though and blew snow for the first time this year. It was hardly enough to justify it but meh
Maybe you and Dewie could build one of these..
Won't need it with all the rain coming Saturday... should be like glass if it freezes up nicely
I gotta get down there today and clear a rink. Layer of ice over top of powder and then a nice smooth ice surface
The controller for my truck plow went haywire the other night. I’ve tried Parts For Trucks and Drive Products but nobody has a replacement. Does anyone know who might repair such a thing?
Lookin at you Dewie!
