    I am bored.
So, who is racing next year, what do you plan to run (type), and what are you running (car). To those who are already racing, what changes are you making, if any, to the car for next season?
Jon, you get a dedicated car yet?

Solo 2 again. Was looking at building a project car for dedicated Solo2 and get into Solo1, but things just didn't work out for that. Maybe the year after.

So, Solo2 again in the RX-8.
The only for-sure changes will be I'll have some R-compounds on dedicated wheels... and a glimmer of a clue on how to drive this car now.

If things come together for me (still in doubt) I'll have coilovers and sway-bars as well... (and be all alone in BSS :( )

I'd like to give it a go, but the SiR is for sale and for some reason the Accordian doesn't strike me as an autox type car

I plan to make it out to a few events this summer, the fucking bridge means any solo II even I travel too costs me at least 60-100 in tolls and fuel. The better question is who's going to be doing the BAC rallycross events this winter at the AMP? I only missed one last year, they were a complete blast! It's like autoX but with less traction and speed. :-)

adanced driving class @ mosport and a formula 2000 day on the shorter track.

depending on what car i buy next, i may look into autox, but it's doubtful i'll like it as much as the big track.

I'll be doing Solo 2 naturally. Going to try and make it to the Solo 1s this year. I had planned to do them last year but they all ended up conflicting with my schedule.

I'll definitely do the ASCC school again and I'm going to try to do the BMW one if I can afford it.

As for the car I've pretty much got everything on it thats going on it with the new Teins, sway bar etc. I'll have some brake refreshing to do (New master cylinder and rotors) and a few bushings that need replacing, but other than that the car is good to go. Some new tires would be nice at some point but I think for the beginning of the year I'm just going to Formula-V the R1's and see if I can't destroy 'em good. :)

And hey... rust is like points-free weight reduction! :)

Or... I may end up flying to Toronto in the spring to buy a Miata or other new toy. Who knows.

Solo 1 is track racing at AMP. 1 car at a time, fastest car around the track is the winner.

Solo 2 is racing around a course laid out in pylons. Much smaller scale, much more technical.

Solo I and II are quite different, Gord is correct, with II being a bit more technical. Solo I requires you to hang it out a bit more, MUCH faster, higher consequences if you mess up, but to be honest, you have to mess up pretty big to do any harm to anything other than your ego.
The competeition in general is more fierce in Solo II, more cars, always someone to compete against. Solo I usually has a much bigger spread, speed wise, although the fast guys always seem to have a close battle going on.
    Try both!

Thats Solo I, its hard to say which one I like better. I definitley enjoy the wheel to wheel stuff best, but between I & II, well II is a lot harder than it looks. Its such a confined place and things happen at a rediculosly fast pace at times. Solo I and road racing may seem to be more laid back when you are driving, until you get down to shaving off 10ths and shit. Thats when you are squeezing every bit of speed out of every corner. No room for mistakes. Pylons are much more firgiving than an off road excursion :D

I plan to get to as many local events as I can in Solo I, II and road racing. Probably be hanging around the schools as well sharking for more track time, and we'll be up at the BMW schools giving trackside support as well. I'm also working for a team down south again so I'll be on the road a lot of the summer. We're back in a Bimmer this year so its all good. March 15th Sebring here I come!

Keep in mind for those interested that to do Solo 1 you HAVE to do the ASCC school or another accepted track school to run. Exceptions can be made for someone who's proven themselves at Solo 2 but you're a lot better off taking the school. Plus the fact its an entire day's worth of track time for like $50. Absolutely cannot be beat for the coin.

Yeah the school is a big time bargain. A whole day on the track for $50 is nothing. You'll spend more than that on gas most likely, and rubber haha. And its not like HS or anything. They just want to get you comfortable enough with the track and your car in the turns that you can have fun without overstepping yourself the 1st time out.

Gord, did you buy some Formula V yet? Would you be interested in going splits on some, its expensive shit! I have some slicks I want to do over, they have been sitting since I got them at Mosport 2 years ago..

Haven't yet. I've only half-heartedly tried to find some. How much does it run? Sounds like going splits might be a good idea.

Pricy. Wonder how much I'd need to do 5 13" tires. You can pretty much count me in though.

I'll be racing 1/4 mile for sure (main reason I built my car) at qcraceway, PEI, NB and anywhere else I can find a track.

I really want to do the BMW school at AMP and give solo I a try. If I can find the time I want to try some solo II as well.

I also just got a 90 civic that I am going to make into a thunder car and race out at scotia with.

Should be a great summer of racing. :)

    1.5 hours isn't bad.

My POS Cavy will be there a couple of times for sure. :D

And of course on my vacations home where there are 3 tracks within 1.5 hours.

    QC Raceway

Queens County Raceway is now closed, no not because of the weather.
Aparently the Queens County Municipality has revoked the rental agreement with the tracks operator. See the web site for more info, I'm sure this will get worse before it gets better.
