The need to scratch the last attempt and go back to the drawing board.. and yes pat, I've seen many of these in person... they are nice, but not as nice as their predecessors.

I can see why you'd say that, what with it's 8200rpm 10 cylinder motor with 500hp, lighter weight than the previous M5, 7 speed SMG Drivelogic, amazing handling/braking... yeah, that just doesn't cut it. ;)

Get over the styling, you superficial fucks. The 5ers look brilliant on the road anyway.

When your shelling out that much for a car, styling goes a long way.

The styling is great, inside and out. The more I see them on the road, the more I like them.

I have also never considered styling when purchasing a car, though if I liked a car and also liked the styling that would be a plus.

I think alot of people who haven't seen the new ones on the road looking at this pic may think it's ugly because of the color that's pictured. I think if it were a new black on sitting beside the rest some peoples tunes would change.

I agree, and until you really see one in motion and see a few running 'round town you really don't get an idea of what the styling actually conveys. It's an update of BMW's classic styling trends... and it looks damn good, better than anything in it's segment anyhow. People are just haters who look only at pictures. It's a BETTER CAR, deal with it.

I don't like the styling of the new gen. from the pics, but after seeing a few on the road, Pat is right, they do look hot.

Doesn't look too bad. The new V10 is a cool motor too.

So the improved driving dynamics, improved suspension, improved braking, improved gearboxes (7 speeds and lightning-quick shifts that Porsche can't touch) and improvements in passenger ocmfort simply don't rate? Brilliant.

Boots - I think the old model looks downright frumpy next to the new one. I've always been bored by it. Then again, the design of my own car bores me...

Oh, and I should mention that by creating controversy with it's new models BMW is actually helping the residuals of the older ones. Not only are they making better, more desirable cars... they're making the older models more desirable along the way. Never has a marketing strategy been so good to the owners.

i think its the headlights. That little flip up and back that throws the look off. impresive car, but i do like the looks of the earlier one more.

The Bavarians have been building cars for over 7 decades. I'm sure they know better what they're doing than a casual observer that isn't even near the target audience for anything they produce.

most of the people that I've talked to that would be the target audience agree it looks like a Mazda :p
I'd like it if it weren't for the headlights. makes the front end look too bulbous.

They're not the target audience for BMW, they're the target audience for Mercedes.
