I'll be there first weekend in April. Decision has to be made prior to April 15.

Okay folks. I'm going to be in Montreal APril 4th, 5th and 6th. What are fun things I absolutely have to do to fall in love with the city?

I would do Montreal as well. Toronto doesn't have any culture. Plus the area York U is really shady. My sister lived there for 2 years and couldn't wait to leave the area.

Old montreal is absolutely gorgeous. Have you never been to Montreal before? I cant imagine a worse city in Canada to live in than Toronto... and I live in Ottawa

I would live in Toronto long before Ottawa, and I will never live in Toronto again.

I'll be there in April too.

Ok - I seem to remember you don't eat meat? So if that's the case, I won't recommend Schwartz's. Or Joe Beef. Those are two places I'm going. I'll be at my very favourite brewpub, which is right by McGill - Benelux. Live music at Cheval Blanc (also a brewpub, but there was only one beer I liked there - a black IPA).

Great galleries as well - I will be doing that too, since I'm a bit starved for culture out here. It's just a fun city to wander around and check out. Little Italy is great. I'll be at Primo & Secundo.

Bagels are awesome there too. Different recipe from New York style. I have to pack lightly, because I have so many people who want me to bring them back some. My favourite's St. Viatour - and it's open 24/7.

Looking back on the list - I'm mostly there for the food(!)

some good advice given in the thread

When you're down on the 3rd, let's do coffee and/or bite on Monkland st. It's a charming lil street you'll soon become very fond of; which is also very close to your campus, as spnx mentioned: it's got st-viateur bagel - N.D.G. is mah hood yo!

...so whenever you're done with your teachers/meetings/blowjobs, I can gladly give you a run down of the city!

Almost a year now. Im on the east side though. Ottawa is quite possiblly the most boring and conservative city I have ever lived in. Im not a fan.... I would love to be in Montreal!

Also, thanks shorty! Lets definitely grab a coffee or a drink or whatever. Also, teach me french. I need to learn, "Do you have a condom" and "When were you last tested?".. that should get me through my first 6 months at least.

My sister is coming down with me because she needs a vacation like crazy.. so we're gonna do some fucking around, sight seeing, see if we can score tickets to a hockey game, etc. Should be out and about Thurs/Fri/Sat night, so let me know where I should go!

I remembered wrong? Ok, try and get a reservation at Joe Beef. They do online reservations. I love Schwartz's too. You really shouldn't miss that.

    I'm there from April 4 - 11.

Nah not all of it. Some parts are not exciting, but it is a Gov town so I can see how people say it sucks

I don't mind Edmonton. It does everything I need.

We'll have to do some exploring. I think we're going to head down to Niagara Falls for a few days while we're there.

I still need to visit Edmonton. However, Montreal is higher on the list. And I've already bought the tickets. Two more weeks! :)

I liked Ottawa for the ~10 years I lived there. My only issue with the place was finding a neighborhood to live in that felt like "home" - get to really know your neighbors, feel like part of the area, that type of thing. We moved around a fair bit in search of it and never really found it. People generally kept to themselves. I'm sure there are pockets and we were just missing something, but after 10 years, it was enough.

There is a lot to do as a tourist in Ottawa, Cooper. You'll have fun.

    Sherbrooke Liquor Store.

Note that I am not cancelling my trip to Montreal to go there.

So would a Lada Niva, but I bet you wouldn't want to drive one everyday.

Personally I hate going into the city, generally stick to Sherwood Park for anything I need.

I voted Toronto just for the fact that a buddy of mine got screwed living in Montreal. Don't sign any contracts unless your french is awsome. He moved to Toronto afterward and loves it. The people of Montreal are very nice though, except for the odd idiot, but you get that everywhere
