So I'm getting a new computer for Xmas, so I'm sorting out all my options. I'm looking for the full package, ie monitor/printer/sound system I don't want to pay a lot, however I don't want to sacrifice quality. There are a few specifics I would like (IE. DVD-RW, good quality video/sound cards) So, I could go the custom built route (Any suggestions for retailers in Metro?) Or, I could buy a set package (IE. Dell, or Future Shop Comps) Opinions?
Get quotes from places like Brilliance computers, Cellar Computers and other custom builders around town. I got mine built at brilliance and I love it.... good price too. ..... oh, and if you get an Athlon processor.... get a good cooling supply
He wants a computer not a migraine from dealing with that place I can hook you up with a bomb system for a great price. Just PM me.
If you want a GOOD system, get one custom built. if you go the dell, futureshop, pre-built way, you will have nothing but a nightmare on your hands.
Dude, get a DELL! Or get one custom built, im sure there is a couple of us here that could do that for you.
I have never had any problems with the dell's we had at work, i will say that much, with the exception of upgrading them. but they were setup to be an office pc, so you can't expect much. i have heard great things on dell's lately as well. So i will take back my nightmarish comment about dell's but e-machines from futureshop are nothing but trouble.
nicix.com is a good spot to deal with, have bought one whole system and many parts from them over the past 3 years or so.
honestly...check out the boys at greenlyph they're really good shit down there..and they have THE best prices around as far as retail goes. www.greenlyph.com
I just got one, i get it tomorrow. We didn't get it online we called up told the guy if he could give us a better deal we'd buy it from him and he did, saved 100 bucks. You'd have to ask Ken about the details..what it has and doesn't cause i have no clue!
easy Macwarehouse or the Apple Store online. I get mine at PCPC. If you are a student they have better deals (but you can get the same at the Apple store). Lab downstairs was bragging about the great service from Dell. They ordered 5 and the 3 DOAs were replaced within 2 days. I said that sounded like pretty good service. A month later he was bragging that 2 more failures were replaced in 24 hours. That's very good service. I just replied that I didn't think Apple would do as well. But, that I wouldn't know because in 10 years and about 30 machines we've never had to call them for service. We've also gone white box as well. All I can say is goooooood luck!
