So we've got a neighbour who decided to get a puppy. It's been probably close to a month now and the thing still yelps constantly.
Today I'm at a breaking point, due to the loud party that was down there all night last night and the yelping dog this morning.
What steps should one take in this situation... Keeping in mind the neighbor is the same one that verbally and physically attacked my roommate when we wouldn't give her our wireless internet key, so we're not exactly on friendly terms.

Check the local noise bylaw and animal bylaws and call the appropriate department if you have grounds for a complaint (which I would imagine you do!).

Are they allowed to have a dog in the apartment?
Are there any by-laws in place regarding dogs and/or noise?

should I contact the person first? Through e-mail or other such means? I'd like to deal with this peacefully, rather than die of smoke inhalation one night when she decides to burn this place down.

I think you should say something to the super at your building, that way they dont know its YOU who is complaining. The super will deffanitly say something to them, expecially if other tenants complaining to the super as well.

we're in a house, with 2 apartments.. either way she's going to know it is us complaining.. I tried to contact her through facebook, but it appears as though she has deleted me or removed her profile. Either way that's not a viable route.

    Your right.
Why dont you write her a letter, and put it in her mail box?

Write her a letter - if you have her email do it that way with read receipt and keep a copy so you can prove it was friendly. Maybe offer suggestions - give the dog an appropriate chew toy stuffed with peanut butter while she's gone, leave a radio or TV on for it too...

Then if she doesn't comply go to your super.

    Good luck. :happysad:

Sad thing is, it's not really the dog's fault. Maybe use the .270 on the dumb bitch neighbor and then give the dog away to a good home that doesn't leave it home alone all day.

When the noise is at it's loudest, call the cops. Then the complaint is on file and the landlord can fall back on that if necessary. Talk to the landlord/super and complain as well. If the neighbour is being a cunt, then go right over them to avoid another confrontation.
