So your friend is scratching a lotto ticket. They think they lost. You just happen to look at it and notice they won. Do you feel this winnings should be split? This just happened to me but it was only $6, I don't actually expect half, but it got me thinking, what if it was 10,000? What about if you were the person who bought they ticket. Its only 10k. So to split it you only get 5 grand. you bought they ticket. But you were about the throw it out. WWYD? both situations.
I'd keep my mouth shut until they threw it out, then I'd scam it outta the can and cash it as my own. FTMFW Finders keepers, loosers weepers...
I wouldn't expect them to split their winnings and I wouldn't offer to split mine. If it was a good friend, I'd probably hook them up or give them some anyway.
Since they bought the ticket, they are really the only ones that should keep the winnings, regardless of the amount. As much as it would suck to point out to a friend a winning ticket of $10,000, it would be really unfair to expect half or to wait until they threw the ticket out to snipe it. It would be a pretty big dick move. All you could really do is hope they would give you a little something as "thank you" for pointing out their error of thinking it was a losing ticket, almost throwing it out.
If it was my ticket, I wouldn't split, I don't think. Maybe hook them up with a grand, I just can't get past 5000 is better then nadda.
See, I agree but then I think, fuck like Dana said I could have lied. They almost threw it out. Maybe I am a bit greedy, I would expect something. Not half, something. I can't decide.
Just imagine though, if the shoe were on the other foot and a friend sniped it from you. How furious and gutted would you be? This is why I sign all of my lotto tickets as soon as I get them.
Exactly. As much as I would be tempted to do it, I never could. Not to a friend. Probably not even to a complete stranger who just threw it away. Karma would have a way of kicking my ass in return, I'm sure.
I'd be happy enough just pointing it out to them. 10 k or something like that? meh. now if you won like 10 MIL or something it would be a nice gesture to hook a brother up with g or something like that, but i still wouldn't EXPECT it.
I would have thought this perspective would have been obvious. I suppose it depends on a) how good of a friend they are and b) how big of a douche you are, but generally speaking... I would assume anyone who wasn't a huge douche would do something nice for the person who helped them realize they have 10 grand (I have friends take me for beers if I help them get a job, etc)... but I also would never expect anything. But I guess it all depends on what kind of person you are and what kind of friends you have.
Sodero and I scratched one of his Roomates scratch tickets and won $10 and we put it on the fridge out of sight haha.
I think so too. unless it was a really close friend, and i'd be sure they would give me a small portion.
I would tell them that they actually won, show them on the ticket, and then let them decide what should be done with the winnings. It's their ticket, and they are a friend... how could I possibly try to gain something from a friend that is unjustified? My integrity is worth well more than $10K.
Why is this even a question? Friends don't do things expecting something in return. Its what differentiates a friend from a contractor, or client. Just the sheer joy of making fun of him/her to our mutual friends that he almost threw away $10K or whatever the amount was, would be more than enough. That's what friends do. They share is the good times, and rub in the stupid times. Edit: fixed a typo.
As long as you're not holding up the line at the convenience store while playing those fucking things, I couldn't give a fuck what you did with it. Fuck I hate lottery players. Just let me pay for my fucking milk!
I'd pick up the ticket while making fun of them. Hand the ticket to them, regardless of how much money it represents. Not expecting anything in return. I don't understand why you should expect to get anything out of it.
