Cool videos I decided to upload of my ship firing 2 Sea Sparrow missiles. This happened Febuary 08. We were down off the coast of Virginia to fire these. My job is to maintain the equipment that makes the missiles fire. I thought these were pretty cool videos! on top of the hangar view YouTube - bridge view of ESSM firing Flight deck view YouTube - flight deck view ESSM firing HMCS St. Johns Coolest video, Slow motion YouTube - slow motion view ESSM Sea Sparrow St. Johns heres a couple pics of the drones we fire at..
My uncle found one of those drones in his net out fishing one time. Can't remember the entire story behind it, but pretty sure there was a big deal made about it. Cool videos Benny.
the drones are fired and controlled from the US military ahore. They go a certain distance and run out of gas. They land and stay afloat for 6-8 hours I think. Then they sink. If we recover them before they sink, they only cost us 250k. If they sink or get destroyed, they are 400k.
we track them and fire at them, yes. But we input a bias so that we dont actually hit them. If they come within the certain distance, its an assessed kill
awe, booo well it's clear now, since you work on these weapons, remove this bias and blow shit up, get that on vid, and report back what's with the green coloring in the water, is that like a dye so you can easily spot the drones from the air?
