hey guys i'm new here! Not to Halifax but to the forums. I have some beef building up and well this looks the spot to post it!

What are we doing as human beings? It seems to me that everyone (including myself) is on some sort auto pilot over the last 30 years.

On average North Americans spend 4-7 hours a day watching TV. watching the same news caster feed them information every single day. Do you think this is the way is was supose to be? 98% of family have TV....that pretty high. There are world issues that need to be addressed but the simpsons, family guy and other shows seem more important then helping humanity.

we do eveything the TV tells us to do. They can just put commercials over and over and over again until eventually they hack our minds:lol:

I'm not saying TV is the root to all evil but I mean if it wasn't for TV i'm sure there would be a lot of people having different conversations other then how good the TV show House was last night.

That's my beef and i'm sticking to it!

    Chow,

Seriously? 4-7 hours a day? Jesus fuck that's a lot...

I'd say I average maybe 30 minutes a day. I watch about an hour like three times a week. Where the hell are people getting that much time?

I know it's crazy to think people watch that much but that's what I read the other day:eek3:

I know older people who watch that much TV simply because they don't work anymore

I believe that. I know people who watch 4+ hours on a work day.

My point here is that soon they will make it so everyone has a HD TV. They have a new slogan on a panasonic or sony commercial saying "change your TV, Change your life." That to me is a bit extreme. I mean how can you honestly change your TV and then have your life changed? It's not good for the subconscious mind at all really.

The worst part is how TV's are getting so big and clear! ( HD ) You no longer have to go see the world because it's right in front of you. all 600 channels.

Once again these are just my opinions,

    chow!

yeah I just think they are going TV overboard here. They have a commercial saying "change your TV, Change your life"

    hehe.

That message heard over and over again will hack your subconscious.

To me it feels as if anything put on TV becomes a part of the persons reality for the most part. Not everything but without seeing how fun an IPOD touch is 10 times a day, I don't think everyone would have one. That's why the more money companies spend on advertising the more they get in return. It's pretty simple when you look at it like that.

But don't get me wrong even I still like watching a few shows. Just a thought on what TV can do to the mind.

    Fuck I love TV

Scrubs, Mad Men, Dexter, Lost, Gossip Girl, Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia , Entourage, The Office, 30 Rock

I follow a lot of shows. Although I never watch them when they're actually on!

I don't have time for tv. How some people manage 4-7 hours on a workday is beyond me. They must go straight home and watch tv until they fall asleep.

Can't we just ban him right off the bat? Do we really need a 5 day interview process to confirm he is a douche?

I don't watch a lot of TV and could survive without one. Take away my computer and I would think my life is over.
