I must be getting super old because I didn't know anything about this app till this past weekend.

A buddy of mine was visiting me in Kingston and had his younger brother came with him. Now my buddy and I are both early 30s and this kid is only 22. They are both from Toronto and never been to Kingston. So we are having drinks late at night and young pup asked me if I knew any girls to hangout with that night. I laughed and said "not in your age spectrum". He wasn't phased, whipped out his phone and started using this app that shows pictures of girls near by. It is tied to your Facebook and you say "yes" or "no" to pictures of chicks. Most of the girls there were around his age. If both parties likes what they see you can message each other. Fucker met a girl in 45 mins and ditched us...

Two questions: Where was this app when I was his age? And what is going on with the youth these days?

I just heard about it recently as well - similar story to yours. The ultimate hookup app.

I had some gf's try and convince me to use this (when I was single) ...after hearing their experiences... it simply sounds like a hook-up site.

    No thank you.

Love Tinder! Easy way to meet people. Pretty easy to tell what certain people are looking for, and if you're going to click with them. Rather do something like tinder than sign up for a dating website.

How would you know if you're going to click with someone if you're just going on a picture? You cannot read a profile before you msg someone to see if they are even worth messaging and getting to know....

It's on my phone, if I think they're attractive I'll make the effort to talk to them and see if we click. If I think we do then why not go on a date and check it out? Not for everyone but I like it :)

Totally fair statement. I tried some other dating sites and I found reading the profile and having the picture was helpful. I can see why it would work well the other way too..just might not be for me. :)

I like it!! It's how my best friend met her boyfriend.

It also connects with your Facebook, and shows who your mutual friends are too.

The app was called Plenty of Fish, and like youth throughout history, took an okay idea and turned it into something easier to use.

I have never used the app, but there was a very good article in GQ a few months ago.

Guys on my racing team use it a lot. We travel to different cities constantly. Every time I turn around one of them has his phone out and is swiping people all over the place. It's a hook up app not a relationship app. If you are on it, you are not looking for a lasting relationship, you are looking to get laid. It's got to be one of the most shallow things I have ever seen

My husband and I met on Tinder :rofl3:

I actually saw him on POF first, but for some reason was too intimidated to message him (silly of me!). Then I quit POF for a bit, then joined Tinder and was excited that "the hot guy from Plenty of Fish" matched with me. I wasn't looking for anything serious but sometimes that's when you find the right person.

Meh...I don't think either is bad. So many people meet online these days and if something good comes from it, that's great.

My sister met her husband, who is from Florida and now lives here, playing Final Fantasy :lol5:. Was definitely not looking for that but it happened.
