I opened up this site for the first time in months and months, expected to see something interesting...nothing. Who's responsible for keeping this site alive anyways? Terrible.

I am going to stick around for 24 hrs so everyone can get their insults out at my hypocrisy for driving a jeep and living in a big house, yet weirdly still think the environment is worth saving. Maybe getting that out of your system could kickstart some conversations on here.

I am so-so on JT. I don't like the conservative options, so still rather him in power...but...he does some stupid shit. He's not the first pm to dress up to another culture but he certainly went the most ridiculous with it.

I would agree, but past PMs did it for ceremonies where everyone else was dressed the same, versus getting outfitted and showing up for the party, when there wasn't one. I just hate how he goes and tells the vets that they have no money for them and he gallivants around and has more wardrobe changes than Madonna.

its not like he self mailed the invitations. Im sure the staffer who did it got a good talking to, but thats on the party, not JT. I also don't mind him going to events and such. Its a lot different than the previous closed off government. But yes, he's far from perfect, and has said a lot of dumb things.

No, but the fact that the list wasn't vetted by CSIS or RCMP and they refused to send the list to India prior to the visit is a little alarming, no? I have tougher security on my work email, than what the PMO seemingly has, and who gets access to him.

I realize he didn't send them himself, but he is the figure head for the party, so optically, it looks like he is loose with security. The trip certainly didn't strengthen any relation with India. He should be going to world events and attempting to rekindle trading relationships, but has to be cognizant of his, and his parties actions when they are on a world stage.

I loved the memes from Trudeau's trip. I'm not a total hater, but I just don't think he is the best thing ever like some people I know. I think the country is doing alright under his rule....but I find something so phony/cheesy about him.

Reddit and facebook have slowly killed forums in the past decade

Yep. It's a shame too because forums have a way better sense of community than either of those two sites imo. Reddit has LOTS of content but it's really hard to build any kind of relationships with people because the user base is massive. Facebook is good for the relationships but the way everything is shared and tied to your real identity sucks. It's the equivalent of every post you make on RC being shared with your mother

I would take RC over Reddit any day. I've actually never even browsed Reddit other than followed links to it a couple times. I don't even have an account there.

    I wholeheartedly agree.

I have not been on much lately and I was kind of late to the party joining this site so nobody here really knows me well so I miss out on some of the inside jokes and topics at times lol. I was just looking for Halifax based forums after Halifax/Monctonlocals shut down.

The only other forum I frequent in terms of a tight knit community is a smaller Hockey forum full of friends really.

Facebook is like forums without the search function or structure. It's like a group of people in a room all talking over each other and nobody hearing anything. At least in forums like this there is structure and flow to the threads.

I consider facebook more like a giant fridge.

I can post notes on it and pics. "I am heading to XXXX for a drink". Except instead of the people in my house, its anyone on my friends list.

The problem with that analogy is the next person to post will ask "does anyone know where Joe is going for a drink?" or ask for recommendations on where to meet joe for a drink

There’s a reason I’m not friends with any of you on Facebook.

(And it’s only partly because you’re al assholes.)

And if I bother to check my phone I tell them to join me for a drink lol

The XXXX indicated where I would be anyways, and my friends know if I say I am going for a drink, it means I will probably be out for 4 hours or longer

    before I had kids anyways

I know what the X indicated lol, it was more that people post and ask the same thing over and over on FB because there is no structure or search that works well.
