What goes around comes around. I think it's called Karma? lol

Ha I commend her for even bothering to attempt any conversation with the likes of most of you on here actually. You only see things for face value & nothing more. Specially you Flower. That's the hilarity of it all. ha

To bad he's wrong! This will get worked out easily in tenancy court. Pottie after all the free rides you have got over the what 7-8+ yrs I've known you I'm amazed your glad or hoping she gets stiffed. I'm just saying why not bite the bullet, take over the place & move on as obviously she has done. I won't give you to much info on what could be done as you'd no doubt use it against her but dude get over it.

Oh & I'm surprised this thread is still going but not so much on the other hand.

Also will someone please direct me to the thread where you are trying to get off your DUI? I need a pick me up lol today. ha

Whammo Tony out of no where. How's screwing your friends over, staying home drinking instead of working to pay the rent going for ya?

I was going to say that myself.

I think Tony may actually be the spirit of James Brown re-incarnated. Every statement is followed by a "ha"

Oh and as for the thread on the Impaired charge, I'm not sure there was one. If so, no one told me.

    Want a break down?

    Get charged

    Get lawyer

Pay lots and lots of money

    Wait for outcome.

    There's a brief summary

I am still baffled that she would think that after a period of time a year to year lease would magically turn month to month.

I've never heard of a year-to-year lease. I signed for 1 year and it goes month-to-month after that.

Actually, maybe my lease in Halifax was year-to-year, maybe that's why I didn't stay until December. Hmmmmm

If you sign a yearly lease it remains yearly until such a time that the landlord issues a new lease stating otherwise.

If you sign a lease in 2006 that is yearly it will remain as such. If no notice to quit is given and the tenant makes an agreement with the landlord to stay for another year it is not necessary to sign an additional lease as the previous contract is still valid.

My lease was for a year they gave an option of month to month at a higher price or another year at the same price.

I think a lot of people assume that a lease goes month to month after the first year. I've heard it a number of times and used to think the same thing myself.

    I really doubt it.

This sucks for me because I'm friends with both so I've choosen to stay out of it.

I hate that it's come to this for you guys :(

Pottie - I hope you find new roommates soon or figure something out... I'm still looking for a roommate if you want to live with me, 2 kids and a fish :kekeke:

and for the record, I truly don't think that Leanne intentionally tried to hurt anyone. This is my opinion and I know everyone will jump all over me but I've known the girl longer than most of you on here and I know it wasn't her intention.

If she didn’t intend to hurt a friend she should have told him face to face, and then the next day make a thread how great everything is going, full well knowing at least 2-3 people on here knew what happened..

But this would be a special agreement made with the landlord. If an agreement at the time of signing was not made then she would be stuck with a yearly lease.

    One other thing to add

I would have read over my lease and spoke with my landlord before even considering another apartment

Unfortunately Leanne assumed this was the case and didn't consult the lease or landlord before making said ill-fated decision.

In Moncton both of our landlords wanted month to month leases from the start. Their reasoning was great - they didnt want anyone living there who didnt want to live there (private income property homes) and they wanted to be able to end the lease easily for anyone they didnt want there.

Makes way more sense to me than yearly leases.
