This video is 1 lap of mosport park in Ontario. the driver is my dad. http://uploads.reality-check.ca/GT3_1a.avi
top speed in the video is ~260kph, which is awesome considering we added 4 degrees of wing before that was filmed. For those not auto savvy, adding wing gives downforce, allowing for higher cornering speeds, but increases drag, meaning less top speed
Yeah, I'd be scared going that fast too...The fastest I've been was 180 kph, and that was on the highway, and that was scary ops:
lol, the car is so stable at speed it feels like you're putting along at 200kph. i accidentally got up there on the 401 and was wondering why everyone was going so slow till i looked at the speedo and stabbed the brakes
I can drive 170kph at ease, but anything over it, is too fast for me The intrepid can't handle any higher speeds
the car you're driving has a lot to do with it. i can drive the GT3 at 200+ no problem, but if i take mine to 140 i'm scared shitless... mostly because im afraid it will fall apart
more than I could afford, even if i got the car for free. ~80 litres of 94 octane a day tires usually last 2 or 3 events, they're like $3k a set performance brake pads are ~1k, last 5 events rotors, i dunno, they last awhile and probably cost a lot
fastest so far is a 1:36, fully 2 seconds faster then the old car. my dad seems sure he can do 1:32's in it, which would be very fast for mosport
At least he didn't opt for the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system, those are having problems with the rotors cracking and owners getting charged ~$45K USD for repairs! (It was 26K pounds/sterling)
yup, that's why we didn't do it. the composites are awesome for the street, and will last forever, but overheat em and they crack . plus, the performance gain you get is minimal over steel with upgraded pads. hopefully they will have updated the system in time for the 997 since they're going to be an option on all models.
Yeah it's pretty retarded. Porsche advertises them as a solution for the track, and then they break and they don't warranty them.
Well of course the car has a lot to do with it If I had an STi, sure I'd drive it real fast, it's one of the most safest cars 8) I'm not afraid my intrepid will fall apart, I'm afraid it will blow up
Word, not to mention the heat resistance. Lots of tuners are saying that they're cracking due to the lack of cooling that the car gets off the front end, but.. have you seen the front of a GT2? How can you get bigger scoops up there?!
