Tired of being followed around by LPO's (Loss prevention officers) and being scoped out. For people who dont know, they look like everyday shoppers, but they are scoping out shoplifters. Sure, they have their purpose and im not knockin them, but its just I'm always the one they target. Sure, I'm a 21 year old male wearing a hoodie - I guess I'm asking for it.

It is funny however, to turn the situation on them. For instance, I am always followed around the SaveEasy grocery store, and when he follows around the corner after me, I stare back at him, laugh and wave. He continues to just pretend hes shopping and browses through cans of vegetables. I've done this at least 3 times now - you'd think he'd catch on...

Happens at Futureshop too, except they are just regular employees that have their FS uniforms on. If you are around my age and wear a hooded sweatshirt, stay AWAY from the Blu-ray movies. They stare you down. I stare back and make them feel uncomfortable enough to leave me alone.

I was in shoppers drug mart the other night looking at razor blades. Couldnt decide if i wanted to buy blades for my fusion, or go back to the mach 3.

Little did i realize how long i was taking to make a decision, since i was also on the phone and not really looking at the blades. But 4 or 5 times the security guard would come over, stare, and walk around the corner and stop (i could still see him), then he would peer around the corner again.

So yeah, atleast hes trying to make sure im not gonna steal anything, but it was just annoyng. So he came around again and just to be an asshole i said "Do i have something of yours?".....He promply turned around and walked down the other isle.

I got mixed feelings on it. Yea its good theyre actually checking up on people to make sure theyre not shoplifting. But they have such an annoying way of doing it. I dont really take offence to them targeting me (like you said, young dude with a hoodie, we're all criminals, right?), its just the staredown i hate.

I don't think I have ever been followed around a store.

Yea, thats exactly how I feel. It makes you FEEL like scum. Razor blades are a bit on the expensive side and you being there for more than 60 seconds to pick out some blades will spark their suspicions..

I forgot about Shoppers Drug Mart. Every store has on-location security and boy are they can be pretty persistent as well. However, I do live in an area deemed low-income/high crime etc, so I guess it makes sense to have as much security as they do at SaveEasy and Shoppers.

I've never once been followed around (to my knowledge), then again I'd never be a fucking retard wearing my hood inside/around a store.

even i think having your hood up in a store is shady and asking for attention.

that said, i dont "wear my hood", inside a store. so i dont know if you're directing that at me or at Matt30..

Don't look sketchy, and you won't get followed.

    Pretty simple theory really...

Coming from the other side of things...working customer service for over 10 yrs..I followed people around. And was never subtle about it either lol. Part of the job I guess

I don't think I've ever been on the flip side though.

I don't understand why you think they would be following you just because you're wearing a hoodie. If it was up I would understand, but if it's down why wouldn't they target all sweater wearing people as well (am I right to assume hoodie people are targeted as they're obscuring their face)?

If the hood is up..I believe I would probably keep an eye. Just one the the cues for sketchiness.

If the hood is down..who gives a crap. I wear my hoodies all the time. But who the hell wears them up in a store?

I must say I am way more suspicious of someone carrying a giant purse than a hoodie.

I purposely dont dress up if I am going somewhere like walmart.

I had a scary experience the last time I went in there with my hair done and wearing makeup.

I had a a 30 something very fat bald guy try to pick me up in walmart last fall.

Yeah, that's where all the fat predators go to try and pick up girls that don't leave home looking like hobo's.

Sorta the same thing happened to me. I was dressed up, makeup and hair done, went to Walmart with my bf, and he went to get a cart, and in the time he was gone some sorta creepy guy (not fat and bald though) started talking to me, trying to give me his number, etc. My bf came back and I started referring to him as "hun" or whatever as normal and the weird guy vanished when I looked back.

I know a bunch of floor walkers...

When I worked at the Walmart photolab back in grade 10, the dude came up and introduced himself... which is a no-no.

And I know a few at the hsc mall.. and micmac mall.. and some other places. They really do discriminate though but that's how their trained I guess.

sorry about that, but you didn't have to be such a bitch about it.

    We do what we can.

I need to go to the mall moar :browwave:
Man the floorwalkers we had a CTC were the laziest 'security' ever. They spent more time hanging around us trying to shoot the shit while we were getting our stock done etc. A couple of them were good shit though.

I agree with the CTC comment, Mosher.

They do not do squat. I managed sports and seasonal for a yr and the floor walkers/security were always over in my section playing with the toys or bugging my staff.. :pissed:
