So what are everyone's opinion on these cars? So far, only a year though, I've heard only good things about them. Besides the usual bullshit comment....but but but it's a neon. So that tells me that there's quite a few more expensive imports getting beat by a neon......then once again the two brain cells mash together....still a neon. I'd like to hear some honest opinions on why this car sucks...besides the fact it's a neon. Personally I think it's a nice little car....
For the price tag, I think it's one hell of a package. For me, If I were looking for a new compact, quick little car for under 30K it would definately be on my list. It's not a car that i would wan't to purchase and own for a while mainly because of a few factors. Neons are proven to have shit resale value, and their build quality/fit and finish is certainly not top notch. Now, I personally think it would be an excellent car to lease for 3 years. Own it, enjoy it, pound the shit out of the snail under the hood and then give it back when the term is up. The fact that it's a sedan and doesn't have rear power windows = lame though. I'm still itching to go for a rip in one though. Anyways, those are my views on the car. Short and sweet, but you get my point. I'm not in the mood to write a book.
I believe the re-sale is 9000....in comaprison to a RSX (base model is almost the same price) 12000. So that sucks.....but the look on the bastard that owns the Type S as you smoke him.....Might just be worth that money. I'm still throwing the idea of getting one this spring......to bad they're hard to find. Very few dealerships even carry them and those ones are told to hold their breath if someone ask for a different color.
Throwing a high output turbocharged motor into a neon doesn't sway my opinion from thinking they are junk. I've had lots of time behind the wheel of several different Neons too. I mean, I don't like Ford Focus' either. Slapping a super fast motor into one won't change that.
Not the same parts though.....The frame is the same but things such as the breaks have been replaced with better performance parts. As I said before....don't start the "it's a neon" stuff.....I'd like to see good reasons such as specs or technical problems
Don't kid yourself. I'm willing to bet the SRT shares 90% of the parts used by the regular neon's. How do you think they can afford to sell em so cheap? Because they're made cheap.
Whose ass did you pull those resale numbers from? The RSX has only been out for about 2 years. A 2 year old base RSX lists for $25k...I highly doubt that a 2 year old one is worth 12k.
I pulled them from the lease papers asshat.... At the end of a 3 year lease it's worth 12000 <---RSX At the end of a 3 year lease it's worth 9000 <----SRT4
That's called a "residual value" not a "resale value" and they are nothing more then a WAG (Wild Ass Guess) by a finance company as to what a car will be worth at end of term.. er.. asshat. My sentiments are almost exactely the same as Eisner's.... if I was into the whole pocket-hot-rod car I'd love to own one for a couple years to thrash and then give back... but going on past history of all things Chrysler, I wouldn't want to actually own one outright.
Fine....my bad....Still doesn't make much of a difference..... Just add a couple $$$ to each...the difference will be the same
I took a look at one the other day, a Black one on Kempt, I kinda like them. For the money, big performance, if I was looking for a new car, that might be the one. I don't care about it being a Neon really, its got a warranty, get a new one when its up...
if i was in the market for leasing a car .. I would be seriously considering this one.. can't tell me it's not fun as fuck to drive.
i looked at one on kempt road 2 weeks ago as i was bored waiting for a windshield to be repaired at apple, I checked out the srt for fun and i thought it as JUNK!!! it is what 27k? yes it is fast but has no style on the inside, no class, crappy knobs for the heater/stereo/ the outside mirrors are still plastic and not painted. Just looks like a cheap car!! will it beat my car? HELL YES it will smoke my ass, but power isn't everything you buy a car for. Also i think the seats are junk.
Did you just describe the failings of the SRT-4 or the WRX? ..and the seats in the SRT-4 are nice.. only redeeming quality of the interior...
I guess he doesn't like the Viper either..... Oh here sir...this nice affordable Ford Taurus Wagon with wood panneling is more your taste.
They look pretty comfy to me. Cloth on the ass and back for grip, and some subtle leather accents on the large bolsters. Very nice, for stock seats in a North American made car.
sorry i don't like those seats at all i just dont like seats with cloth/leather mixed make it one or the other!
Yeah... a proper "racing" type seat should have cloth, not leather surfaces. I wish the seats in my car were like the SRT-4 seats, not leather surfaces. Leather is slippery.. slippery + cornering foces = bad.
meh watched it a few times , yes it would be fun to do but i dont feel like being that hard on my car. i'm probally wrong but it looks like all you do is floor your car and then slam your brakes and corner and floor it again and whip around another corner , to me it must be awful hard on the car flooring it all the time and slamming your brakes on and taking such hard corners on your body??? i'm not just the racing type i guess. fun to watch and would love to do it with someones car , not just my own.
Garuntee you, you wouldnt be sliding around in my seats Never once have I went slamming into the door on a hard corner..
Yeah, you are wrong.... Solo2 is about as hard on your car as commuting to work... Oh, and news flash, flooring your car semi-regularly is actually good for the engine.
True, but that's a function of the bolsters.. with cloth seats your ass wouldn't be sliding into the bolsters as hard.
Man, you're a wuss. Why did you buy an Arctic Blue RSX Type S if you're going to drive it like its an Echo???? Start driving it like its meant to be driven..... hard. If you wanted a RSX for looks, the base model with aftermarket rims would have been fine.
perhaps you should try it and realize that it's nothing like that. Or better yet, take the BMW driving school and learn how much fun track racing is. If you go drag racing, you're being harder on your car in once day than an entire season of solo2. Try it man...you won't be disapointed.
i didn't say i drive it like a echo. but i'm not gonna go beat the snot out of it every chance i get base model blows, for interior, and i know "flooring your car" can be good for it sometimes to clean out the carbon build up and such and actually let the vtec do what it is meant to do , trust me i redline the car quite often, i just don't like doing that and having to break 10 seconds later. who knows i may give it a try this spring and i'm sure i'll be addicted once i try it
