Is it worth it? My HP has been a piece for the 1.5 years I've had it. I'm on my 3rd power cord, 2nd HD, and the hinge that attaches the screen to the base is broken and the screen has to be positioned just right so it doesnt just flop all over the place. I dont need a crazy system, all I do is download a few movies/music and play around online. I dont need the Pro, a regular Macbook will be just fine. Looking at this model: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...65000FS10111215&catid=23016&logon=&langid=EN# Input appreciated, or if you can get me a better deal, holler.
If you're a student, or know a student who could order it for you, get it through Apple's website and get a discount.
For the same price you can get a Dell with double the ram, double the HD space, and 2.4Ghz C2D instead of 2.0
Yeah, get a Dell. I got a sweet Inspiron 1525 that's as fast as my desktop with a blue ray burner in it for less then a grand. I'm pretty happy with it.
I dont need a br burner or crazy amounts of ram, etc etc. I have a 120gb hd in this laptop and only 44gb is used.
http://canadaapp.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/EducationStores.woa/wa/higherEd $1349 if you get a student to purchase it for you that way
Get the macbook, you will not regret it. You should also check out the refurbished section on the apple store. They have a few 15" MBP there for a decent price. http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/specialdeals/mac Also I know at Best Buy & Future shop they do sell macbook that were bought & returned within 14 days for a pretty good price.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20) You can also use the highschool student discount they don't need to see any info
I'm on a 15" macbook right now. fucking sucks. Delete is backspace and there is no delete key that deletes. no page up/down keys. no home/end keys. OSX is terrible.
no way to scroll. very choppy when you use the up/down arrows. Fuck. this thing is giving me a headache.
My last two have been Dell Latitude's. It was fully loaded a couple years ago, with next day on site repair warranty, which i have used a couple times (new hinges, motherboard). Its pretty easy to get parts replaced if they are bugging you. You don't have to get the full load machine, but the service package is worth its weight in gold. I really don't see myself purchasing anything other than Dell in the future.
I didnt find it clumsy at all when I played with it. Is it the brand new macbook or the older ones? My dad had a powerbook G3 when OSX was new and I didnt mind it
because this thread is so utterly stupid it deserves to be jacked reason: Apple products are overpriced garbage and their fanboys obviously would drink Steve Job's urine if he told them it would make their stools Apple shaped.
I say go for it. I have no complaints with my macbook. You are going to pay a premium over the equivalent pc hardware but then again, it's not going to be a piece of shit vista machine. There will be a learning curve if all you've ever used is windows but after you've used OS X for a while you won't even think about it. Plus, you can load and run windows natively on macs now, so you can still use your windows apps.
