Has anyone subscribed to Shomi for their 30 day free trial?

I got it last night, I find it's not as user friendly as Netflix and only seems to have more movies.

Too many streaming services now. Went from having little choice to a fragmented landscape of half ass streaming services.

I think more choices are good, keeps things competitive.

Maybe if they weren't all offering small catalogues. You'd have to spend $200/month to get a full library.

If it was only one company offering that catalog, they'd make you pay $200 to get it.

And I don't particularly care if I can get Pokemon thong underwear... I'll get the catalog that suits my interests best.

I'm still happy with Netflix for now. Crave TV's HBO Collection is intriguing but I'm fine with downloading the one I want to see.

I'd rather have five companies with full catalogues competing.

They have a few titles that netflix does't that I have to acquire elsewhere. What they don't have is the device support netflix has. Basically apple, android and PC is it for Shomi.

Those streaming boxes are sketchy imo. When they crack down on them, people will be freaking out because they didn't realize they are publicly pirating content.

I'm surprised people haven't started getting those copyright infringement notices from their ISPs

I don't mind all the services, bring them on!!

I will only pay for the good ones...which at the moment is Netflix and CraveTV. Shomi doesn't see like it's worth it yet. I still have a full package premium cable subscription with TMN and NHL Center Ice as well.

I have a private vpn service I pay $6 a month to for my torrents. Most of my viewing comes from Netflix, and my music from Spotify. I do grab the occasional movie and there's a lot of TV series that I don't get on Netflix/not willing to wait for.

Pff, those notices don't mean anything, ISPs are just required to pass those along.

Don't use sites whose trackers are public... easy enough. Or even something like Usenet.

Those notices technically could serve as evidence of piracy should it ever be brought into question.

A buddy of mine was getting ones for some show he had never even heard of. He didn't use Wifi and is sure it wasn't coming from his connection.

I question the validity of them.
