    Severe thunderstorm watch for
    Halifax Metro and Halifax County West issued

    Strong thunderstorms are possible this afternoon.

    This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.

    Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.

    Conditions are favourable for the development of strong thunderstorms this afternoon over inland areas of mainland Nova Scotia. Some of these storms could produce localized heavy downpours hail and gusty winds

    It's beautiful downtown but I could hear thunder in the distance a half hour ago.

    I was just standing on my back deck enjoying the downpour and a lightning strike hit a tree in my back yard about 30m away at eye level (backyard drops off) and I could feel it in my chest. Decided to come back inside.

    that was a strong and quick storm, very happy i was wrong. watched the mcdonald bridge? (new bridge) get hit a few times.
