If it's a desktop, it would be cheaper to buy a new burner then it would to have it serviced. Greenlyph has excellent prices and product.

Burners are $20. You aren't going to get it serviced for less that double that.

what is it you think is wrong with your machine?

guaranteed you will pay $50 just for them to say they will look at it.

heh...I think what Cheddar meant is its a "usb" port and not a "ups" port

anywho....if its slow run an antivirus on it (avast is a good free one) and something to check for spyware (ad aware is a good one)

If you have had it less than a year and the DVD drive is broken...as well as a usb port....id call up the manufacture and check on warranty. You will be without your PC for a bit....but they will fix it for free.

    Kim,

Put me on ignore if you don't like it. If anyone else said it you wouldn't have a problem. You would have recognized it as a simple joke, rather than as a reference to your grade 2 spelling (in)abilities. I don't plan on ignoring you so if you don't like it, you know how to do it.

Nobody wastes your time but you. If you don't have enough of it you can either get off the internet, or set your watch back an hour. The second one is probably easier for you, and more effective.

You want me to take off the fucking gloves and start being rude and insensitive to you? It would be my pleasure. Up until now its been the same sarcasm I use when talking to anybody else. Even Miss Shawty is undumb enough to get it.

Oh a get it. I get over 90% of shit everyone feels I don’t get. Its funny to me. Yes my grammar sucks, so does my spelling. I even miss words. I also don’t understand everything about computers. CALL THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do appreciate it. I would have no idea how to put it in or anything. This is why I am wondering where to take it.

I wouldn't take your computer to PC Medic.

    As mentioned above, try Greenlyph.

    http://www.greenlyph.com/new/contact_us.php?osCsid=0d076357617f794535f6274d654a6caf

Give the a call, explain your situation, and ask them if they'll take a look at it.

If you want somewhere closer, try Robotnik or Mystery Bytes.

    http://www.robotnik.com/home.php

    http://www.mysterybyte.com/

I've dealt with all three places. Their staff and customer service, for the most part, has been excellent.

Or... You could just call Hardy's brother. :kekeke: He'll hook you up and he's good with that shit. He's fixed my machine a few times. Seriously.

And if it would be your pleasure to “take off the gloves” and be nasty to me, please go a head. No one is stopping you, but if you are looking for a reaction from me, I am not a nasty person. I wouldn’t respond or go to that level.

But back to the topic at hand..where can I take my computer? I do know trust myself.

What is wrong with your dvd rom? I had a issue with my pc before I gave it to my brother where it wouldn't show up in My Computer, but would show up in the BIOS & in the Device Manager.

If you are having that problem let me know & I can show you the link to the fix.

Are you using it in bed or on a blanket where it can't get proper ventilation? It could be turning off because it's getting too hot

I imagine the heatsinks could be plugged with dirt or the thermal paste could be dried out.

Also a laptop cooler might be a good idea, staples had them on for like $15 not long ago, just a usb powered fan that you sit your laptop on.
