You know I was initially shocked when I saw that list as well but I quickly realized that most of those positions are making that much because of the overtime they put in. I read a lot of them want to be removed from the list unless their base salary is actually over 100k because they're getting scrutinized for putting in a ton of overtime work.

Teachers don't make enough. They have to put up with all the frittata's and little stang's in this country, and are incredibly important In educating the next generation. 80-90k isn't enough for me to even think about doing it, lots of respect for anyone in this profession.

I'd be on board with what you say except it's not like it's a surprise once they get the job. They should know what their salary expectations are before they start down the road. So I do respect the job and the people doing it, but I can't feel sorry for someone who chooses a profession, spends the time and money to get there and then complains about the salary. It's like becoming a doctor and then complaining that everyone you have to deal with its always sick or complaining about something.

There are many other teachers salaries list released in 2013.

Many make 70-90k for regular school teachers. They work a max 186
    days a year.

Considering most people work about 320 days a year. Its at a rate of about 120-130k if they worked as many days.

Still overpaid .... as are most Government workers. Gov't Unions = Cancer

I had a short term office job at Stadacona (26 years ago), where I was doing the "work" of two civil servants and I was still twiddling my thumbs by 2:30 each day.

My Manager told me to slow down .... probably because I was making them look bad.

considering that there are 104 weekend days a year...how do you figure that?

Most m-f 9-5ers would "work" (including stat holidays...deducting typical 3 weeks of vacation) 246 days a year.

Teachers are at school before the kids, and there after they leave. At home they are still grading and lesson planning. Based on the teachers I know even though they only work "186 days a year" they are putting in the same amount of hours or more in a condensed time period.

I know at least 8 teachers now (that I grew up with) that fall under this category.

Cool blanket statement, where did you get that info and does it even consider things like average cost of living? Way too many factors to just convert the salaries to all the same currency and compare if that's the case.
