Well, I got word today that supposedly Rob Steele, bought Portland Street Honda, is there any truth to this?

Yes, it is rob steele's dealership.

Next to go is the future of courtesy chrysler that had its doors closed and locked last friday.

Also century honda is for sale.

Rob is also opening the porsche store on kempt road and projects some 80 new units out the door in there first year. Personnaly i know rob very well, and well i've told him straight up that he's smoking crack if he thinks he's going to sell 80 porsches in one year. Another niche make, ie bmw, which offers more "affordable options" sell on average 180 new units a year. sorry rob, but it ain't going to happen.

maybe he needs a net loss for tax purposes.

I heard Courtesy Chysler went bankrupt?

Apparently they told their employees on Friday at 5:00 that they don't work there anyone, and they're getting fucked out of their banked hours and vacation pay.

But I heard it thirdhand, could be just a rumour.

Calm your nerves bud. It's always mentioned at the delaerships when a deal goes down. Oh to be as cool as Stu  Am I not allowed to comment that it's funny it wasnt mentioned?

The day the Porsche deal was made we knew about it. They day the decision to move Hyundai was made we knew. Hence me saying it wa "funny" that it wasn't mentioned.

Oh and STU.... I work at the Porsche dealership, thanks, and have worked in the automotive industry for about 5 years now. I don know what I'm talking about, so take the bullshit comment and shove it up your ass.

And whoop-ti-do you know Rob, does this make you special?

Again, i was merely stating IT IS WEIRD THAT THE PURCHASE WAS NOT MENTIONED, seeing as all the others ones have been.

If this is true then that is just horrible. I couldnt imagine being told that my job is gone just like that. Feel bad for the employees. :(

80 units beind sold around here by a Porshe dealer in a yr sounds a little tough. Not saying it cant be done but that it just seems like the bar is being set to high.

As for the rest of the posts...I dont know "Rob" nor do I care really.

Size-wise, no... but these days people are more likely to go with a luxury marque when they can afford it. At least around here, you see 3.0L X5s instead of Explorers and stuff.... things like that. I mean, what would YOU choose? (neither isn't an option and also the ford is not an option)

So you worked for 5 years answering phones for a dealership and booking appointments.....

so if you work at porsche, where is the new dealership going. Kind of interested to hear what you know seeing how you posses such a large knowledge of the steele business....

And pat, the market here can't support 80 new porsches, just not that type of market. On average the bmw store does 180 new units a year, which is below its market capability.

chris and anthony your not even worth this much of a sentence.

I didn't hear that either. not that they call and tell me this stuff. What STeele DID buy was the OLD Portland ST Honda Bldg, since they built a new one. over by home depot. We moved MAzda into that location a year ago., but thats old news. They are now renovating the showroom.

Just to rule out the confusion Stu, Rob acutally bought the NEW Portland St Honda Dealership?

Apparently there are no Porsche dealers East of Montreal, but still I'd say 80 a year is pretty optomistic,

I'm sure there is alot of built demand for porsches. They're prolly sell 20 cars in the first month, then the business will quiet down.
