I went with Yokohama Geolander G015 A/Ts. Crappy tire has them for 40% off. $800 for 4 vs the typical $1500 I spend. They have a great warranty and good reviews online. Not as aggressive as the bfg at KO that I usually go for... But I'm not an extreme off roader anymore and want something that I can take for hunting/winter roads and run year round. Couldn't pass up the price on these.
I found boxes and boxes of plastic grocery bags at a Superstore in NB. Think I could demand a premium for these on the black market in NS?
Warning to others interested in these tires (275/55R20 in my case): Crappy Tire has a 4ply version (117H) for the $859 price, and a 10ply version (120S) for $1463. Know your load rating needs before buying.
Mine are 10 ply. LT 275 65R18 123S. I tow a heavy load when I go hunting and need the extra room for weight of a moose or whatever on my way home. Definitely need 10 ply!
Nice! I wish the size I needed were on clearance as well. I have K02s at the moment, and they've been good to me, but I can definitely live without the offroad performance and replace it with a more road based tire but still retain the 'mountain with snowflake' symbol. These Geolanders in 10ply seem to fit the bill, but I wouldn't mind a better price than what's available now.
Exact reason I went with them. I've always run bfg KO's then KO2s. But can't pass up this deal. And like you said, I just don't do the off-roading to warrant such an aggressive tread anymore. Hopefully I don't regret it! They should do me for the next couple years. The tires that came on my new truck just weren't cutting it, this seems to be a good happy medium between road based/all terrain. . I just don't wanna be the one getting stuck this hunting season!
