Example : Looking at the Canon 40D it says the ISO sensitivity is 100 - 1600 but expandable to 3200. How does it magically expand? I know n00b question...
You have to enable it in custom functions through the menu. I forget off the top of my head exactly what one it is now, but if you take a look through them it's pretty clear.
