i've just downloaded some movies(.avi) and tried to burn them in Nero, but it says avi files are not supported, so is there a way to change the format or is there another program that avi files are supported

you have to re-encode them. there are TONS of programms out there that will do it. some wuicker than others. i used to do it a fre years ago and it took up to 12 hrs to re-encode, but i'm sure there are better programs out there now. just google a search for video encoder.

you only have to encode them again if you are trying to burn as a VCD for a standalone player, and for that avi is not supported. otherwise avi (divx, xvid) is fine in data cd format for play on computer with that codec.
