They seem like nice rigs, I really liked the new Forrester Sport I checked out before I bought the soccer mom wagon.
I know two unrelated people who both had oil burning issues (and a lot more) with their Subies. Kind of scares me away from the brand.
Been 3 years. I intended to keep it another couple years but after it was hit in my driveway it's been one thing after another, all in the area it was hit. The closest Nissan dealer is Edmonton. 3.5 hour drive. (They were half an hour away when I bought it).
Yeah when I did my research on the Subies (for both me and dad when he had to replace his RVR) I got really scared of the reports about the oil issues on the boxer motors.
Most of the research I’ve done on Subaru’s for reliability point to them not being as popular so there just aren’t as many mechanics who are as familiar with them. Seattle is Subaru central - the largest dealership in the US is here. No one I know has any issues with them and they range from brand new to 20 years old.
Put a hold on the Ascent we want last night via text message, LOL. The exact vehicle we want isn't actually at the dealership yet which is fine. Now to figure out selling this van.
Jen looked at Subarus as well and liked them, then i started researching and ran away after seeing all the sub 100k engine replacements.
Are manufacturers/dealers advertising any incentives currently? I haven't seen anything advertised, maybe its something they mention when you come in store? What is the best strategy to get a deal with the current conditions?
Most of the deals I saw when I was looking was low or 0% financing. The Subaru we're picking up, for example, will have 0% financing for 5 years - made the choice of how to pay for this pretty easy.
