STM takes a minute to get rolling since they "set the scene" and really dive into the demographics of how small this town is/history/ cost of living, but its done in a way they make fun of it. so dont be surprised when youre 45 min into it and its finally getting around to talking about the crime. if you like timesuck, youll really like these guys. once youve got a few eps under your belt check out the caligula timesuck ep where they collaborate, its awesome.
17 - I started listening to the first episode of Case File. Immediately jumped to mind that you might like: Death In Ice Valley. As opposed to one crime each episode, this is one unsolved crime over 11 episodes. Exact same vibe as Case File. BBC/NRK publication - good quality production value. In the same vein: Dirty John and most likely: The Shrink Next Door 100% on Death in Ice Valley. Then again, your recommendation of Small Town Murder is hard to read - I tried that one a while back but don't remember getting sucked in.
thanks for the recommendation, ill check them out for sure. ive actually listened to dirty john (and saw the movie)
It was a mini series on Netflix as well with Eric Banna that is pretty good too. It has that hot older chick from American Horror Story.
Just finished the last episode of "Man in the window" podcast - story of the Golden State Serial Rapist/Killer. Incredible to hear the story of what he did but also a look at how rape was handled back in the 70's/80's. Good listen, I tore through it walking the dog. Prior to that, I'd been listening to Slate Presents - listened to both Season 1 (the story of Ruby Ridge) and Season 4 (story of David Duke) - both were great. I'll take a look at season 2-3 next most likely. Reading this channel reminds me I haven't watched Dirty John yet.
I’ve recently found (and have been listening to): American Skyjacker Business Wars (Netflix vs blockbuster, Gibson vs fender, etc) Gone Unexplained Mysteries
Added "Smartless" into the mix recently - Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Wil Arnett - every week, one of the three of them invites a guest on and the other two don't know who it will be. It's a lot of shooting the shit and making fun of each other - good "distraction from the apocalypse" content, thought they have already had Kamala Harris as a guest.
I am bored and just going down the list of threads and digging up bones I haven't listened to many for a while but I put on trailer park boys after dark just to kill some time while cleaning up the shop for background noise it is what you would expect. I have also listened to Sickboy in the past and REALLY enjoyed it just because I can relate to some situations and the humour that they have considering all that is going on. May have to see what's new there. My wife says Dax Shepard's podcast is really good so that's on the que
I started listening to Steven Rinella podcast and I love his show and his books but for some reason I can't get into the podcast, I may have to give it another try maybe while behind the wheel someday.
I listen to it every now and then on longer drives. Love steven Rinella but not a huge fan of his podcast either. Enjoy him much more when he guests on Joe Rogans.
MindPump is fitness based but they actually spend a large part of the episode just talking about random stuff, and then get to answering fitness questions at the end. I find them pretty entertaining and informative. They have time stamps if you want to skip through some stuff, but I like listening to the entire episode.
I wish JRE had not gone exclusively to spotify, as I don't use spotify I now want be tuning in ti him
Lost me as a listener as well. I didn't listen to all his episodes but I would when he has someone I thought was interesting on.. and I'd do it via YouTube where I can toss it on my TV. No interest in installing Spotify for one podcast especially where it's not available on roku/chromecast
I have Spotify but stopped listening to him late last year. Dunno just sorta lost what interested me.
I feel like he used to be pretty open minded. Laid out all sides, really had discussions. That sorta went away
Pseudo intellect is a great descriptor for Joe Rogan. Thinks anyone else who doesn't think like he does is an idiot.
Covid messed with him because it directly affected the income of him and most of the people he associates with. He landed on the 'covid is no big deal' side of things and lost of ton of credibility in the process.
So, listened to season 1 of this - only 5 episodes. While it was a good listen, it wasn't all that mind blowing. Rasheeda definitely plays a "doom and gloom character" while Gates provides an optimistic character. There were some cool moments - just given who Gates is, it was cool to hear him talking with folks like Fauci. There was no "Dr. Fauci/Mr. Gates", it was all "Tony & Bill". I wish it hadn't been so scripted. I felt like Rasheeda really wanted to push the income/wealth gap and Gates just talked around the edges of it and never acknowledged that he was/is part of the problem on that front.
I've just recently started listening to podcasts on my daily dog walks, anyone have any good tech/business/science podcast recommendations?
Business Wars is pretty interesting! I never really listened before but my husband does all the time and he will turn it on, especially for long drives. The Hershey vs Mars is the one I remember the most, it's a fun listen.
