too thin of a dof here for me. I don't mind a little blur on the nose and lots of blur on the ears, but it just is a bit too thin in this instance for me.
also his placement in the frame feels awkward with the dead space being on the side he's facing away from...our eye doesn't like that. :)
bump the iso a smidge(it's at 100 here) and stop down a bit to get the nose in(or at least closer to) the workable dof. if you stopped down without the bump in iso your shutter speed would have become too slow.
that being said exposure looks pretty solid and the focus is nicely done and nice and sharp. wb looks great too in what looks to be a mixed light environment.

    50 1.4 = Nifty Fifty

Thanks Gar. I was basically just trying to get his eyes in focus in this one. For the next one I'll try to recompose to put the blank space on the side he's looking to and get more in focus.

You know him. I had to act fast to catch him being still. haha

Thanks for the contribution. 1.8 is all I need for now, seeing as I'm just starting out and have my little set of basic lenses, and don't even have a flash yet.

I didn't say anything was wrong with the 1.8, that's what I have, they are awesome little lens. I was just clarifying what they are called

I have yet to hear the 50 f1.8 called anything but the nifty fifty.

well let's be logical about it....would you refer to 2 different things by the same name? Then why not call all images at 50mm nifty fifty? makes sense to me

If you were you would not have replied. Anyways, this is really a pointless debate. Mostly cause I don't give a fuck.

when did I say you commented on the name of the lens? If you look again, I did not. You took the time to comment on me trolling boards, which is ironically hypocritical given your participation in this lame argument. Anyways I have wasted way too much valuable board trolling time entertaining this discussion.
