Playing a Div-X file under windows media player ....

    .. is really hard when you cant install divx. Anyone know a workaround for playing the file under windows without it? Or maybe a way to manually install the files myself, copying and pasting a codec would be too easy.

    why dont you just goto www.divx.com and download the free div x codec?

    thanks! i cant download and install without admin rights on the pc ... not to mention im not allowed to watch movies at work. So keeping it quiet and simple is a must, ill try out the suggestions though.. thanks guys!

    I know that on a Mac you can install codecs in your user account without admin access. They only work for you, but that is what you want. There must be something like that one Windows.

    Anyway, I believe that there might be a version of MPlayer for Windows that is self contained and runs from your user account.
