Where will people find other sleazy people to fuck and forget now?
Theres a your mom joke in there somewhere.
Neat. Make it a nice, classy, watering hole/restaurant and I'd give it a go.
alot of good memories there
havent been in about 4 years though
Last time I was there was the last RC Palace bash, whenever that was.
Last time I was there I was told I couldn't wear my 3/4 length leather jacket in because black is considered a gang colour.
I was more of The Seahorse type than The Palace type when I was younger. I tried to meet friends at The Palace once but the doorman rudely refused me entry over dress code. He didn't like my Blue Jays hat. Getting turned away was such a relief. Never been back.
A good friend of mine is booked to play there on the 18th, so if they're closing, I hope it isn't immediate.
Really? That's ridiculous.
It has closed or it will close?
And what's the connection with BNL?
Has closed, and listen to "Hello City"
Sucks to be the acts booked. My friend is gonna be super disappoint.
And I'll listen, thanks.
I don't understand the whole "what a shithole" and "good riddance" attitudes, chances are if you're between 25-40 you had some good times with great friends there.
Pretty sad, the place had been open since the 70's continuously.
Is it a classy bar? No, of course not. Was that ever the point? Definitely not!
I haven't been there in about 5 years, I wish I had one last chance to drink the bar dry before they closed! Sucks.
I agree. I had so many crazy times at that place......sorry to see it go kinda in a way.....
And I'm right beside you bud, would be great to see a Palace farewell bash.
When I was younger I fucking loved that place and killed it every Saturday with many of the peeps on here, I hated the dome but others loved it thats how bars go. Fuck I even named my dog "Palace". I haven't been in years and I wish I could have gone one last time. But it will re-open with a new name and new decorations and it will be packed and the line up will be down the street just like every bar that does the facelift and name change.
Out all the bars (dome not included) I'm surprised the Palace is shutting down.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using ******** 2
I knew we shouldn't of sold our shares years ago.....thats when it went to shit.
Yes. Lord knows I look like a gang member.
God I love that song
The whole Gordon album is awesome.
Kids these days don't even know. I was talking about it with a 22 year old co worker and he was blown away when I told him it had carpet, a smoking room indoors and dollar drinks.
Didn't we go last year?
Do black guys still surround the railing overlooking the dance floor at the dome? Fuck did I ever hate the dome.
Sad to see the palace go, hopefully something equally greasy opens in it's place
A popular nightclub that has been a fixture of Halifax’s downtown since 1979 has closed its doors.
The owners of the New Palace Cabaret confirmed Tuesday night that they’re no longer in business.
“We are always keen to recognize demographic changes and industry trends, and as a result have decided to renovate the current location into a new and unique concept,” said owners Michel and Marcel Khoury in a statement.
The brothers said they’re starting renovations immediately on their new business. They did not reveal what type of operation they would open.
“We are excited about this new venture and are optimistic about Downtown Halifax’s future.”
The closure shocked Sammi Khalief, who went to the Palace with his friends.
“I’ll be sad to see it go,” he said. “I think it might affect downtown business… because it’s a draw for people downtown.”
But not everyone was a fan.
“I don’t really go to the Palace so that could be why it’s closing. Nobody goes there,” said Christian Dehmel.
The Khourys also own the Alehouse next door. They employ about 100 part-time staff between the two businesses.
I don't go to Addition Elle, nobody goes there. It's probably gonna close.
I think I still have a pair of shoes stuck to the floor there...
I've only been there a dozen or so times but it was always a blast!
Oh I can't deny that I had many good times there. jagerbombs, red bull and vodka, and vodka lime. Oh the memories <3
I also haven't been there in YEARS and if it does reopen as a different type of venue, I'd be all over checking it out and reliving the memories v. oldandboring
i remember one night when stan was home, he bought all these shots because he wanted to do some drinking game, so the bar tender lined them all up and we downed them as soon as we could
stan was so mad.
Remember that is was some rev shot.
