Hey folks, We booked a romantic night away for our anniversary (woot!) in April and that means we need a place for Puppers to hang for 2 days/1 night. Was looking online via Charlie Loves Halifax and found a couple of places that looked wonderful, only to discover they don't accept Pits/Amstaff/Mix/etc. I'm going to ask our obedience trainer tonight but thought I'd put it out there to the experts of RC. Finlay is incredibly social, has displayed zero aggression (dog/human/food/toy/cat/small animal/etc) and I am confident she will do fine but I want to find a place that I can trust is knowledgeable about the breed and that group play is always supervised appropriately. We've made it a point to become 'experts' on doggy body language in order to head off potential issues so I don't want something silly to happen when it can be avoided! Much thanks!
We've taken Keira to both Mountain Dog Lodge & Lietash. They both are great and totally accepting of Pitbulls. Mountain Dog Lodge is Avonport (so approx. ~45 mins away) but is totally worth the drive. It was definitely nice to have peace of mind leaving her there and not worrying about anything. The website is: www.mountaindoglodge.com
Mountain Dog Lodge is awesome...I have a hard time dragging Pippa out of there. its almost like she is sad we are back. lol Pippa is a Rottie Mix, they never blinked an eye. didnt even ask what kind of dog she was before we brought her out the first time. they just said bring her down.
So Finlay is booked into Mountain Dog Lodge for 8 days! We ended up booking a last minute trip to the D.R, leaving this Sunday and the folks at MDL have been super great with the few changes we've had to make to our reservation (originally only for 1 night, teehee). I've heard such good things...but I think I'm going to miss my puppers like mad! I hope she doesn't stress too much about us never coming back You have to wonder what, if anything, runs through their mind! On the flip side, 8 days without hearing the pee bell, no chasing the felines, no slobbers...sleeping in - oh my!
I've been taking my pooch to the Chewed Slipper in Sackville. Rather than being stuck in a cage, he's free to play with other dogs all day. I take him to daycare twice a week, and board him there as well. He's so tired when he comes home he sleeps for 2 days, and he loves it so much he goes apeshit when we drive by it. It's more expensive than other boarders, but guaranteed, your dog will not miss you while you're away. Oh, and yeah they take Pits.
They put a bunch of gravel outside in the yard today... Spencer was a VERY dirty pup today when we brought him home!! LOL His bathwater was soooo dirty tonight!
I think because the yard was getting mucky in places. I wasn't back there but my understanding is that they filled in some areas. I could be wrong. I do know that they shovelled some of the gravel to move it around and my dog thought it was the greatest game ever! LOL
