http://pics.spoon.org/Cars/Miata Needs a few odds and ends but ought to be a good summer car. The Civic is still solid as hell but in summer race trim its a bit too stiff for comfortable relaxing driving. Plus I'd like to dial in some tire-killing camber on it for next year. My Heliums look so much better on it than they did on the Civic.
Yeah, I was waiting for the comments. Chick car or not they're light as hell, handle like they're on rails and RWD > FWD. Jenn: Actually I'm not sure I'm going to Solo it. At least not next year. The Civic is working for me for now. Plus I want to keep it mostly stock and there's no drivers in C-Stock to run against.
I have a hard time getting my head around Miata's too, but I have spent a fair amount of time in the this summer, at Solo's, and truth is, they rock. I think I should get one, slam it on full race suspension, paint it flat black and turbo the hell out of it. Here is me in one this past sunday..
Thats a multi-shot composite of the same car. Keep in mind thats bone stock with nothing but race tires and a cage. (good for chassis stiffening, definitely the early years weak spot but an easy fix). I've been considering getting one for years and finally took the plunge. I don't need storage space (I've got the Civic Hatch and my wife has an Impreza Wagon) so when you boil it down to fun to drive factor its hard to do better for the money. They respond really well to forced induction too. The original 1.6L engine is out of the 323GTX which was Turbo/AWD. They've got some pretty tough internals. Or you can go really crazy and swap in a Ford V8. (Monster Miata!)
