I'm building something for the forum piece by piece and this is the first part. You can up or down vote threads by clicking on the up or down arrow respectively. The count in the middle is the total up/downs for the thread. Please give them some use so I can make sure things are working. edit: http://www.reality-check.ca/sbkarmastat.php
This is eventually going to replace the reputation system. Users will collect rep in the form of points either given or taken away from their threads/posts. Your rep is going to become a number instead of a pointless green bar. This should make rep more reflective of your contributions to the forum rather than the meaningless private message system it's used for now. Everything will be reset before it goes live, so any points you give or take now are meaningless. Keep testing it out though.
Maybe put the arrows in the thread at the bottom rather than outside. So people don't have to go back to the index after they are done with that thread. And you still owe me 400K+ of rep.
haha....buy the fuck im having a load of fun changing 0 to 1 and 1 to 0. I like this new game bootsie.
Yeah but by having the arrows outside the thread forces people to leave, find the thread in the list again, and rep it. If it was just at the bottom of the thread, then when someone was done reading the arrows would be right in front of them rather than backing out and finding the thread again.
hiltzy's post was at -1....I hit the down arrow and it went to 0 hit down on one that was at 2 and it went to 0
Or just click TOP and rep the thread starter. No need to back out to the main forum to do it. It updates live from the database so if someone else reps that post in between the time you load the page and rep, it may jump a bit. Each up rep is worth 1pt and each down rep is worth -1pt. Every user/post/thread starts at 0. If you change a rep from a down to an up or the other way around it will jump two points. That being said, there may be bugs!
