People always say "they are just dogs". But man when I had to put Alfred to sleep a few years ago, I sobbed like a baby and felt like I just lost a sibling. Sorry to hear that Steve. Enjoy the time left!
Yeah I sat in my car crying in the parking lot at Xmas when I had to put my lab down. Couldn't drive, and I knew it was coming for a long time. Still didn't mentally prepare enough.
It's never easy my pup just turned 7 and I tear up just thinking about losing her. Just love her all you can the rest of the time you have with her and I am crying right now.
It took 20 years for me to convince my wife we were getting a dog. Now we have 2 and I don’t think either of us would go back to not having one. Nova turns 3 next month.
We are down to one Dog, Molly, she is now 7 we have been thinking about a new puppy but Molly has been such a good dog and we have my wife's daughters wedding here in the spring so we are thinking it will be better to wait until after that. The yard will be in better shape and Molly won't have to deal with a new little sister.
We finally broke down and got a dog. This is Millie the day we picked her up. She's about 9 wks now or so.
She's getting tall already! And loves to terrorize our two cats, who have been awesome putting up with her.
