I did a little bit of cleaning and painting under the hood. I got the front mounts, fuse panel, and coolant resevior painted black. I'm going to get a sticker made up of the original diagram on the fuse panel so that it looks factory. I still have to sand and paint the engine cover black to match as well as paint the front rad support, nitrous bracket and intake plate but I have to wait for the weather to warm up a bit first. I'm also going to cover the fuel lines and the coolant hoses with steel braid. Thought I would post up some pics of my progress. If you have any suggestions as well lets here them, I am trying to get it ready for the show scene so any tips or suggestions are more than welcome. The body kit should be going back on next week along with the rest of the interior. Couple more weeks and she will be all ready for the road.
Looks sick under there bro! There's just one thing left to, get rid of those gawd awful red spots on the under side of your hood.
How about return them back to white? If you're going to be showing the car, there is one alternative that would look pretty nice. Fill those red spots in between the hood skeleton with thin thin mirror.
I don't understand why GM wouldn't have put that engine in there right from the factory. It fits like a glove by the looks. Serious sleeper, nice job!
Thats what it is. I am going to redo the underside of the hood, not sure yet wheather it will go back to white or mirror but I will do something.
I'm going to sand it down and paint it black to match the rest of the black. I'm going to leave the lettering alone.
Yup, it's a 5-speed munci. The front end isn't too bad really, it might of dropped a 1/4 of an inch if that. Haven't had a chance to put some serious clicks on it yet so I'm not sure how it affected the handling yet.
go with the mirror thing under the hood... i dont mind the red because things like that arnt done all the time. which is nice, because its that much more unique.
I'd be afraid that the mirrors would shatter the first time the car is ran at the track I got it! Get another hood, cut a hole in it, then put a sheet of................ Oh wait.... Umm.... Nevermind As far as that looking like it fits like a glove, it certainly does. And GM could've done it, but it's a very tight glove that it's stuffed into. Putting a 3.8L V6 into a 3rd Gen J-Body is almost too tight. Very little clearance... Not to mention, that's one car that you would not want to have wear out it's mounts (if they were rubber that is hehe)
The pics don't do it any justice. under the hood of it the other day, its amazing, and hella clean! Gorgeous looking car. If you're going to do it, make sure you do it right, there is no point and doing it half ass. (And James, sorry for peaking under your hood when you weren't around)
