Whos got the fever? It is almost here for another 10 months I can't wait. Ant other big fans? Hows your favorite, mine is Jeff Gordon, yes I said it, I have been a fan since he joined Hendrick. Post your fav
Hopefully for JR he has a more consitent year. He started last year good but had some really bad races that cost him lots.
RED been to many races? I was lucky enough to be at Bristol the year Dale Sr. spun Terry labonte in turn 2 of the last lap, what a rush.
Not a huge fan of NASCAR racing, but i am a fan of guys like Gordon, Stewart, Jr. and others who are all around great racers, and can get in anything and go fast. I was out at Infineon last year when Jr. crashed the Corvette and almost burned up. That was pretty intense. There was a huge black smoke cloud over the whole area
Sr. was a real racer. Died doing what he loved. Another real racer that races every thing is Kenny Schrader, he just never had much luck in the upper elite Nascar but can win in almost every other series going.
Schrader is one of the last remaining old school guys in my mind. I'm surprised he didn't got the way of jimmy Spencer. Not that those guys are not talented in some way, but they certainly do not hold a candle to the new class of NASCAR racers coming up through. Guys like the ones I mentioned before and then others like Busch and Kenseth are ten times the drivers than those who used to dominate NASCAR. Its pretty obvious when you look at results who is surviving, and its not the old crew. The young drivers coming up now are alot more talented and trained then before.
I agree its boring, but its certainly not the worst out there, and it depends on what is "racing", beacause NASCAR, like it or not, is some of the most serious, highly developed racing out there.
You don't understand what I am talking about. For what those cars are, and the design they must use for suspension, they WORK, big time. The development those teams do on those cars is massive. I don't like oval racing, but I have been involved at a lower level and even that is not just "going in circles".
i agree with paul about the development side, but i don't like how nascar has now become the WWE of racing
Their aero and wind tunnel work is up there next to F1. Sure the cars are pigs, and use some antiquated designs, but the body work is highly developed and pretty sleek for a big beast. I really can't get into watching it unless its short track or one of the road courses. The superspeedway stuff is a snoozer until the last 50 laps or so.
Bristol is worth watching, as well as Talladega. Trying to think of a couple others that are usually good... Well, Daytona obviously..
You know whats funny about that, half the time i watch a race at the track, I usually try to find a closed ciruit tv to watch mostly from And for our races, we use the ALMS pit spots, and those guys will have a half dozen tvs set up so you can monitor live timing and have 5 other tvs to follow the race on. Its perfect! My all time favorite though was watching our race at Indy on the Williams BMW F1 pit stand
16 days 11 hours till the 500 ya hooo. Bistrol I found really cool, Loudon I watch some of it on the big screen in the infield, it makes it easier to see what is happening on the backstreach. The bigger tracks live would be harder to see it all but still the excitement gets you going.
i was never really into it, but it turned into our sunday tradition at my house to watch the races so i had no choice. Either Kasey or Jr are my fave
Casey had a good year just was never able to capitalize near the end. Hopefully for him this year will be even better.
See, I'd actually have to say that F1 is the most boring racing ever. You know the outcome after the first lap.
Yeah Schumacar wins in a ferrari, but I still like to watch it on Sunday mornings since it is racing.
I like pretty much every form of racing. They all have their pro's and cons. Stock car racing has been around for ages. It used to be stuff that sold cars. Race on Sunday, sell on monday! I respect its not for everyone. Same with F1. Great to watch. but as stated above, you pretty much know whos gonna win. it only really gets exciting when someone else takes the lead. Nascar is a specators sport. you can see the whole track, the whole race. you see all the action. Watching F1 in person would be amazing, to hear those motors screaming. simply awesome. But if a crash happens in turn 5, and your sitting in turn 2, your non the wiser. just different strokes for different folks.
There is only one type of race on sunday, sell on monday class going these days. Its Speed World Challenge Touring and GT cars. Everything else is living off of hype. The only product NASCAR is selling is dish detergent and beer. F1 is selling a spectacle that is larger than life, and survives because everyone else in the world other than Americans watches it. Both of them are so removed from the real world these days, and most of the drivers are turning into pampered little infants. Try asking an F1 driver how his session was and if it was shitty, well it was the cars fault This is real racing. Look in the top left on the pic above For me anyway, everything else has gotton away from the racing and is based too much on marketing and looking a certain way. World Challenge is real racing with real cars. Hands down the most exciting racing in North America. How many of you so called race fans have even watched it, or could name a few drivers from the series. I know one of you can (Paul) but other than that, i have my doubts.
I love watching GT cars. Makes for great watching. just wish it was on TV more often with more coverage.
Every World Challenge race for the last five years or so was on Speed Channel, multiple times. I guess NASCAR is easy to watch, just turn on the tube on sunday and there it is!
