I go through stages quickly. First I was sad then I was angry. I'll work harder and make more money to achieve my goals faster.
Being a sad sack doesn't get me ahead.
Also. 10.5's lol.
are those stock rods?
No, I believe Chevy rods
Or maybe not. I can't remember now
ahh, that sounds more like it.
0 to 6' under in 10.5 seconds.
So. heres some new pics and info.
balanced forged scat crank
vw balanced and clearanced rods that were turned with the crank
mahle forged pistons with teflon buttons instead of the weak clips
engle w130 cam
scat racing rockers
gene berg oil pump
motor was built to run 200 hp without the turbo.
crank and cams in the case
crank showing work done to it. theres hours and hours of work here
bottom end assembled
this is where the bearing dowel pin was misalinged, which caused the bearing to die, plugging off my oil galleys
this is where the dowel pin destroyed the case
turns out chunks of metal in your engine case can fuck up some stuff, like brand new scat racing lifters
and then in turn get into places like this
video explaining everything
Everyone ive talked to tells me to message the engine builder who i bought it from last summer but im kinda torn. this was specifically his fault but hes just a home grown engine builder. i dont expect him to do shit but man its frustrating.
Then message him and let him know his mistake. Tell him you don't expect him to do anything about it but thought he should know that this is what happened and aid him in preventing it from happening it next time. We all make mistakes (some just suck way more than others and cost way more money" but it's hard to learn from your mistakes if you don't know you're making them.
That's a good point MacGyver, Beak you should message him. Never know he might offer something up, if not he would be appreciative.
waiting one one part which should be here tommorow, then prob driving it saturday hopefully
Car ran super rich. Drove it for 4 days but wouldn't make boost.
Got tune perfect. Promptly killed the transmission.
Currently looking for a solution.
Cool project but
Ask him if he cares
There's a full drag trans out here I
Might borrow and see how it works.
Me: When you get it tuned, you should take it easy for the summer so you can drive it
Beak: Yes for sure, I want to drive it
2 days later
Beak: I blew a tranny. (maybe not a direct quote)
Me: Not surprised, that didn't take long.
I don't really care if he cares, just saying that one problem after another = big pile of money
I did expect a 36hp transmission to support 300hp.
Imagine someone expecting you to do 72 hours of work in one 8h shift.
I can barely muster 8 hours of work in a 10 hour shift.
Yeah not sure why that was a problem
Disappointment is taking apart a drag transmission and the last part that comes out when everything else has been perfect is a cracked bearing.
Although my new tire choice on the rear is a little more interesting.
car was in for a photoshoot last night with some incredibly talented people. im already totally blown away and this is only the first photo ive seen.
Do you have an idea of what kind of 1/4 mile time something like this would put down once the transmission is fixed?
hoping to be in 11's. similar engine to mine ran a 11.9 with 207hp.
mine will be 300+
Did you take her for a "ride"
Fuck that is a whole lot of cool
i did not. although she just messaged me on fb to tell me that she and her bf were driving behind me on the ave and hes in love with my car.
she was a perfect model for the car. couldent have been a better person.
and thanks for the compliment. i only drive it like once or twice a week but man when i do you couldent beat the smile off my face with the multiple pieces of the transmission that are clunking around in there.
The car looks great, good job!
Wow an 11 second 1/4 mile in that thing must make for a pretty interesting ride. This is a very cool eye-catching hotrod, I'm a huge fan.
