Just got my new dell Inspiron 8600 loaded with the following specs: 15.4 inch WUXGA+ screen (1920x1200) Pentium-M 1.8Ghz (dothon core) ATI mobile radeon 9600 pro turbo with 128mb video ram 100 GB Hard drive 1 GB pc2700 DDR ram 8x DVD-RW/CD-RW drive Intel Centrino Wifi minipci card Been running this badboy all day long, it's the fastest PC I own at the moment. I'm replacing my P4 desktop with this. I can play BF1942 at max graphics and max resolution no problem. The built in speakers are quite nice and the screen is very clear. I won't be taking this on long trips, that duty will still be left to my Averatec 3150 but the desktop is going to be scrapped for parts. I guess the new Dothon core chips are supposed to be fast, a 1.8Ghz dothon is supposed to be around the same speed as a P4 2.8Ghz. The best part is the crazy battery life, 5 hours is a long time! Gentoo should be all compiled in a couple hours, then we'll see how fast it truely is!
nice notebook man I was wondering how the dothon core chips actually helped up for speed. Seems they work pretty well. Also 100gb in a notebook is sick
