Alrighty, lying around the house we have 3 completely shot computers. From trojans, viruses, whatever. So I have taken it upon myself to... well... fix them.

I figure this is probably the best place to look for advice for such a project, since you're all computery people :)

I have 2 compaq's and a dell to work with. I'm pretty sure 2 of them wont even really turn on, the screen just goes black. I just wanna completely wipe out the harddrive and start fresh.

I have NO idea what steps to take, how to wipe it off, or where to find boot/recovery disks (online, im guessing)...

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

so apparently im gonna need boot disks and um.. recovery disks?

zee bootdisks I can get from bootdisk.com or w/e, but my question is.. does it need to be specific at all to the computer, or just general?

the recovery disk needs to be specific right? anyone know where I can get recovery disks for a dell and 2 compaq's?

When you're starting one of the computers, hold down F8 when it says "Starting Windows" or whatever.

    Select command prompt only.
once you get into the command prompt type format c: <enter>

after thats all done install some CD drivers if necessary.
    install an operating system.

    all done
