My car is an 89, is it required to have a resonator installed on the exaust system? I know I am not required by law to have a Cat.

    Could someone clarify?

99% sure you can take the resonator off any car and not have a problem.

On my old car, i just cut a hole in the cat, gut it, then welded it closed. looked fine from below, No idea it was done unless you dropped the exhaust to look at it.

as far as your cat goes......it is 90 and up that need one....and as far as a resonator...the only thing they do id quieten the car down and give you some backpressure...it all depends on how noisy your car is.

new question im pulling a dent from my sister running into my car, will the holes that i drilled for the dent puller cause me to fail my inspection?

Common sence would be no but... usually it doesnt always follow that.

as long as there are no sharp edges......it should be alright.....just cover it in ducttape before you get the inspection done...(yes this does work all possible sharp edges are covered)
