Hey RC! 62 days untill Mexico. And I need some advice, about going on the plane, what I shouldn't and should do. Some cool things I should do in Mexico. So details about their water , and if I need needles, take any pills or anything like that. & what drinks/food is good, and what I should stay away from. I traveled before, so its so EXCITING!!! ANNNDD GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Mexico is where a lot of veggies/fruits come that we eat in the winter....or at least thats what they told me when I was there. drink Miami vices' if your on the peninsula, go to the Cabo Wabo and party. buy Sammy Haggar's tequila don't get drunk but get buzzed you don't need any shots for Mexico.
It is traditional in mexican culture for ousiders to fellate the elder males of the community. It is imperative that if you see an old man you blow him immediately.
you'll be fine...Just think of all the fun you are going to have once you get there. And sit by the window on the airplane...it is pretty neat. I have only been on a plane once, and was a bit worried, but it wasn't bad at all.
For the Mayan: Go to isla mujeres and rent golf carts Go to Playa Del Carmen and Party at the Blue Parrot. Go to Tulum and hang out at the beach at the ruins for the day. Go to Xel-ha and snorkle/tube all day. Don't go to Xcaret Hang out on 5th ave in Playa Del Carmen and drink $1 Dos Equis while people watching. Go to Cozumel and get drunk in Margaritaville. They play the song at the top of every hour. its amazing If you get a chance, go snorkleing off the east coast of cozumel on the reef. its sick. Find the Brazillian steakhouse in Tulum. its retarded. Eat at Playasia in 5th ave and get the crab rangoon. best food evar in life. Take the Passions catamaran day trip if you have time Don't be scared to rent a car Check out Coco Bongo's in Cancun Challenge a waiter at Senior Frogs to an arm wrestle and see what happens Eat at Alux (pronounced A-lush) in Playa I'll post more tomorrow.
If you're around Cancun and have a few people with you, go in the pirate ship Booze Cruise. Its kinda shitty, but its a good price with good food and an open bar. Drinking on a rocking boat is like drinking in a hot tub. You never realize how hammered you are until you get up and try to walk. I almost went tits up over the side of the boat a few times.
Swimming with the dolphins is a rip off. Parasailing is a rip off. If you find a place to rent seadoos, and they are just sitting on the beach for a while, you can rent them dirt cheap. One afternoon, we got two 180 hp seadoos for $50 for an hour for both. If you rent a car, go to Akumal or Puerto Morelos to hang out at the public beaches. There is never anyone on them and they are way nicer than any resort beaches. There is always awesome food and cheap drinks nearby too. Bring your own snorkle gear if you plan on doing a lot of snorkleing. We did and it was totally worth it. Drive down the 307 and just find any road on the east side and go down it. You either come out at someones house or come out at a sick little beach nobody has walked on in months.
In for Going to Playa Del Carmen on the 20th of March. So, I need not be afraid of leaving the resort like I was warned about in the Dominican?
Fuck no! Playa is so tourist friendly. Its amazing. Let me know what you're interested in and i'll tell you exactly where to go/what to do.
William Robert. We're staying at the Riu Tequila. Interested in Cheap shit. I'm going with my bro, and he's the cheapest motherfucker to walk the planet. Snorkeling. Ruins. And, we no habla espagnol... I keep trying to learn it but I keep speaking french when I dunno the words
Tequila is cool. Its in Playacar. A gated community full of resorts, single family homes and condos. Lots of quebecers live there. Super close to everything. There is four Riu resorts there. I think they are Tequila, Lupita, Palace and Playacar. The Palace, Lupita and Playacar are on the beach. You can eat at all the buffets and use the facilities at all of the resorts. There is a good market within a 5 minute walk, but there isn't very good deals. 5th Ave in Playa Del Carmen is a 15 minute walk and about a $5 cab ride. Its nice in there. You'll spend a few nights there. Don't bother booking excursions to go to ruins and shit. Just rent your own car and head down to Tulum/Xel-ha. Its about 45 minutes south on the 307. It only costs $5 to get into Tulum to see the ruins. Xel-ha costs about $65 US each but you can spend all day there. Decent snorkleing and lots to do. You definitely do not need to know any spanish. Everyone down there speaks english. Just remember "uno cerveza por favour" and " la cuenta por favour" Translated to "Another beer please" and "just the bill please" If you are at a restaurant and don't ask for the bill, they won't bring it to you.
The dudes that comb the beach playing music almost got my buddy on that...first he said $5 per song...played song for the ladies, and then wanted $5 for each of 3 band members...as if...they hated me...I act like a local
Nice, thanks for the info. I'll have to guage what kind of vacation the wife is looking for.... lazy sit in sun, or rent a VW Bug and go drive around. We've only been to the DR, so our vision of resorts is somewhat blinded. Sounds like this place is pretty busstling and not 3rd worldy at all.
There is a lot of third world poverty. you won't really see it. Unless you head west of the Highway. That is where all the poor locals live. You can rent Jeep's down there for like $70-80 a day all in. They are mint for rolling around in.
