Congrats, Wayne ! I’d give you some advice but you’re going to get that from everyone you know so I’ll bite my tongue - LOL. Enjoy it! It’s awesome to see such happy news with everything else going on in the world!
Honestly, all advice is considered, it's a very new experience. Last night, first night at home was tough. We had him swaddled, in a bassinet, and tried white noise ... But he just wanted to sleep being held. Too young to let him self soothe so I held him in my arms in bed for 4 hours so Jann could sleep. Not sure it's a great habit but had no other known options lol.
Welcome to the next 4 months of your life. It'll be the most rewarding thing that you never want to experience again!
Oh, the memories! Same thing when we brought my son home for the hospital. We lived in an old farmhouse with a front and back staircase. I just did loops for about 4 hours while my wife slept. Best advice when they’re that young is enjoy it while you’re awake. It’s true what they say about how fast they grow up. That same baby I carried around for 4 hours is 16 now and there’s no way I even lift him up for 60 seconds!
Nothing wrong with your choice. We went through the same thing. Let her sleep when she can, and youll get comfortable to half the sleep you are accustomed to for the next couple months. That won't last forever. May seem tough now but trust me you'll look back on these days and smile, and maybe want to go through it again. Being a dad is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
You can't spoil a newborn, but... You want to perfect the art of waking up and staying motionless when the baby cries for just a split second longer than it takes your wife to wake up and get out of bed.
Day 4 and he's already in a cluster feed frenzy lol...took a minute to google and wrap my head around what was going on.
Congrats Wayne, my little one is almost 7 months now, the days are long but the months fly by! Enjoy every second of it.
Heh, he's getting big and smiley...but just hit the six week growth spurt/sleep regression. Oooh boy...talk about hangry.
So out of the growth spurt and fussiness, now onto hours of wanting to snuggle And yes, enjoying being a dad, certainly challenging though. Harder at times than any work system architecture or algorithm problems in be faced lol.
7 months old now, crawling everywhere, pulling himself up to stand, feeding himself formula from a cup with a straw...eating solids a bit now Where did that tiny baby go...
