Stay in or around Orono. There is a hotel very close to the University of Maine and there are two bars close by. Bear Brew Pub and Ushuaia.

Last time I was there was $0.50 draft!

Try Dysart's truck stop, I 95 exit 180, good food for a great price. Also, go to the New Balance outlet in Skowhegan (12 Walnut St) on your way to Freeport. It is worth leaving I 95 for 25 miles.

if youre willing to travel a bit further south, Kittery ME is a great place for outlet stores. Freeport doesnt have anywhere as many as Kittery.
If you go to Kittery, drive over the bridge to Portsmouth (new hampshire). there are a few good stores over there and NO TAX!!

    In freeport
Check out the Reebok outlet..good deals to be had
    Nautica outlet
LL Bean outlet (headquarters) are in Freeport.

    in Kittery
get a map (at anyone of the complex`s) it will have a listing of all the stores on that main drag.

Bangor is a good place to shop too.

these places are close to each other on Stillwater water lake road:
Bangor Mall has some cool places, but it depends what youre into.
    Dick's sporting goods.
    macys
    jc penney
    Spencers
    Hot topic.
abercrombie and fitch (not my bag, but its for some).
Its really not that big of a Mall.

Borders (if you want to look for books) in the same parking lot as Bangor Mall.

Across the street (i think its called Hogan road iirc)
    Target
    Burlington coat factory
    Circut city
    best buy (iirc)

    on Broadway
TJ Max is good if youre willing to dig.

    other spots:
    Kohl's
Old Navy (no different then the canadian stores though)

    In brewer:
WalMart Super center (about 100times better then any Canadian Wally world)

    places to eat:
Olive Garden (close to bangor mall)
    Chilis (close to bangor mall)
Ruby Tuesdays (in brewer close to the walmart super center)

PM me if you need anything else...i go down there a lot

I haven't been to Maine in probably 13 years :ugh:

I had some rabbit fur from the Kittery Trading post that I bought when I was probably under 10.. I didn't realize what I was buying untill years later.. I just thought it was pretty soft teddy bear fur...

if you are going to drive from Bangor to Kittery just drive an extra 15 minutes and go to Hampton/ North Hampton NH they have the same outlets as Kittery but with less tax
and that is where Timberland is from

I love the food there. Isn't there a hotel or a bar behind there called "The White House"?
