There seems to be almost too much to choose from and then it seems like nothing at all fits what I'd like to watch right now. My wife and I have been watching Luther recently on Netflix. Aside from some of the accents being tough to decipher, I just find it too dark.

So, I'm looking for some recommendations - ideally, it's either on Netflix (US) or Amazon Prime, but I can be creative to find shows elsewhere.

    Criteria:
    - not so dark! So many of the "good/great" new TV shows these days have a real dark edge to them. It's great acting, but can be depressing in the long run.
    - some romcom action would be good (watching with my wife and never hurts!)
    - fun. Ligher side.

So far, at the top of my list is "Catastrophe" : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4374208/

    Anything else that might fit?

Love that show but probably one of the darkest shows out there. I know several people who couldn't watch it because it was so dark.

Depends on what's going on in your life and what you want to see/view/have going on around you. I know one person was dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis. So, yeah, life is scary for some people.

As sad as that is, it really has no baring on how "dark" a show is.

And you obviously know what my comment about life being scaehbwqs in reference to. Don't try and make it sound like I was downplaying cancer, you're smarter than that.

If your life is sad, and it's causing you to be depressed, there is a legitimate reason not to watch something dark and depressing. I don't understand what you're trying to say. Sorry, can't read your mind - no sure what your comment about life being scary was in reference to - closest I can think of since this has to do with House of Lies is Stang's fear that the Clintons are the Underwoods? Maybe?

Started watching Catastrophe last night - first two episodes were hilarious - pretty much what I was looking for. It's only 2 seasons of 6 episodes each season, though, so wont last long!

If you decide you want a good cop show, look up Bosch. Really good show.

My binging lately has been Dr. Who....cuz I didn't watch it for the longest time and now i have 8 seasons to catch up on....and its sooooo awesome....If you like sci fi

Sci Fi is a tough one. Sometimes my wife likes it, sometimes she doesn't - never know.

Life Unexpected on Netflix...only a couple episodes in, but I like it so far! It is a drama, but doesn't seem super dark.
